I work at a kennel, and we have these printouts that have info about the dogs, whether they're aggressive or anything else like that. And there's been a lot of times where a dog just got there and the info hasn't been printed out, but I have to take them out for some reason, no issues. Later on when they have the info printed out I see that they're aggressive, and after that point I have issues taking them out with them snapping or growling at me. Same dog. When I didn't know he was an asshole, I had no issues, but after I know he's an asshole he suddenly starts being an asshole. The subconscious effect of false security is a very real thing, and I've been doing this a long ass time and deal with all sorts of dogs, I'm real calm and assertive and can handle pretty much every dog, it's not like I don't know what to expect, and I even know about this subconscious effect and it still happens sometimes. It's very bizarre. No matter how much you try to rationalize any kind of apprehension away, sometimes your instincts just take over and you can't override it completely.
