  1. No, liberalism can actually work in practice, and is sustainable long term. It just has inherent weaknesses, like generosity towards people who would destroy liberalism as soon as they have the chance. That's why liberalism has to be supplemented with some kind of pushback by the right. Liberalism is definitely flawed, but to call it as foolish as communism is hyperbolic. No idea in the history of all human ideas is as foolish as communism.

  2.  @SomeCanine  democracy isn't the problem, universal voting rights within democracy are the problem. If voting rights have to be earned through some kind of incentive structure, then a liberal democracy will not devolve into socialism.
