I'm old enough to remember when MTV showed music videos. Barely. I was growing up around the era they were transitioning from music to shows about music, before it transitioned to garbage reality TV that has nothing to do with music. Honestly have no idea what they show now.

We live in 2 different realities, fighting to exist in the same time and space. I was just in a Kyle Kulinski comment section about people working 2 jobs, and the comments are full of people talking about how nobody should have to work more than 30 hours, and everyone should have everything they need. These people do not live in our reality. They have absolutely zero understanding of how the world works. One of them was actually telling me I'm "part of the problem" because I don't have a problem working more than 40 hours a week. That not only should they not have to work more than 30 hours, but people like me shouldn't work more than that, because it hurts their cause.

@jameskazd9951 started before that, if I recall, it was Road Rules and The Real World that started it all.

@madflavour8548 interesting you said "fully developed minds", I really think that's a core aspect of all this, the left has tapped into the fact that the brain doesn't fully develop until usually the mid 20s. But it's mostly developed by puberty, where you really are an adult in many ways, and you sure as hell think you're an adult. Those are the people they target, the people in that in between phase where you have the blind hubris to think you have the whole world figured out.

Because they're stupid.

They want to act in any poor display of ignorance they want, and also get to dictate how society views them. You can be an uneducated monkey person if you want, it's a free country, but you don't get to demand that people pretend like you're normal while you act like an uneducated monkey person.

"Why can't society change to view me in whatever way I want them to, instead of me having to change if I want to be viewed differently??" This is basically every leftist argument pertaining to identity politics.

They're not talking to you, they're talking to the generations that are too young to remember a time when race didn't really matter to most normal people, when we could all laugh and joke about race and people didn't get all butt hurt, when anyone who tried to use race as a cover to act like a jackass was roundly mocked by society. They're rewriting history and weaponizing younger generations who will never know any better.

@Xplora213 the reality is no matter what that arbitrary number is, if you're a lazy socialist, there's always going to be people who work harder than you and have more things than you. That's the part they don't understand. Their entire worldview is to lower the standards for all of society so they can have more stuff in relation to other people, the part they don't understand is that people who work more and do more valuable work are always going to have more stuff.

@Dr._Nope lmao, the fact that all of them act like they're so much smarter and better than conservatives, and at the same time think someone else should have to pay for their college should tell you everything you need to know about young progressives. Obviously they're not as smart as they think they are, or they would have figured out a way to pay for their own education.

@josephfisher426 well if you're just going to drop the bar for what "need" means, everyone already has that in western nations. Nobody is starving, at least not without other serious medical conditions, there are food banks and drives, you can get a packet of soup for 10 cents. Everyone has access to housing, even if it's a homeless shelter, those are in every major city. Everyone has access to clean drinking water, we already have the bare necessities. When socialists say "everything they need", they mean modern luxuries they can live without but don't want to, and don't want to have to work for.
1
@josephfisher426 so are we talking about struggling, or having enough to get by? Because this seems to be shifting.
1
@josephfisher426 ah, I gotcha. And yea that's true, the reason working people are stretched so thin is because we're taxed so heavily to take care of people who just don't feel like working.
