Well yea, that's what socialists mean when they say "free". They mean someone else should have to pay for it so they don't have to.

@cloroxusthestainlessone4324 I grew up in the 90s, and not so long ago if anyone even hinted at any support of socialism they were widely mocked and chastised by just about everyone, told to grow up and stop being a selfish child. Because it was very well known and widely accepted that socialism is just for selfish people who want money and belongings without having to work for it. It's really disappointing to see that all change seemingly overnight, all the "well actually......" arguments in academics were very effective on young and impressionable people. I think we should really blame ourselves though, our society has to be pretty weak for people to even entertain the idea of socialism in the first place, if we had a strong economy and a strong workforce, barely anyone would need or want free stuff from the government, they would see right through that grift because they would understand the value and freedom of earning your own money.

@buddyguy4723 I think their argument is that the antichrist of the Bible would emerge as someone who's well liked and respected, as a sort of "Trojan horse", that and the fact that he goes by "Mr Beast". I'm an atheist, I don't believe in all that woo woo stuff, but that's just what I understand of the people saying he's the antichrist, it's not just because he made a generous gesture.

They unironically make arguments like that, that "real freedom" means getting free stuff so you can do more of the stuff you want without worrying about that pesky responsibility nonsense. They fail to acknowledge the other side of that, that it's not very free for the people who are being forced to give their money and property to complete strangers, being punished for being more successful while the less successful are rewarded. Socialists fail to understand the balance and relationship between freedom and responsibility. Either that or they just don't give a shit and they use manipulative tactics to argue their points. Depends on if they're in the "true believer" stage of socialism, or the utilitarian phase.

@innocentbystander3317 and they would have still cried if Elon had matched the US' aid to Ukraine in aiding the homeless or whatever other cause the left is still screeching about. They don't want solutions, they don't want to help anyone other than themselves. It's all a front, they pretend to be altruistic and just want to help the "little guy", but really all they want is a free handout so they don't have to work. If leftists actually gave a shit about all the things they screech about we would see dozens of viral videos every day of Portland hippies giving half their Starbucks paycheck to homeless people, but we don't, because they would never give anything to a person in need of their life depended on it.

Especially when you factor in all the money you would lose by not being able to work. I'm 90% against social programs and just handing out free money, but I would actually back some kind of program that grants loans to people to have surgery that allows them back into the workforce.
