@krichardson113 I've long maintained, you can't dismiss something as a "slippery slope fallacy" unless you can point to a specific point where the trend will stop, and why it will stop there.

@julius43461 conservatives are the real progressives in modern terms, and I know that sounds antithetical, but conservatives don't believe in keeping all old traditions and policies all the time, no matter what, they just believe in the old principle, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The nuclear family, judeo Christian moral values, a free market focused economy, these are all things conservatives want to keep, because they work, they've been proven over a large scale to be effective and help society strive, progress comes naturally along with these ideals. You don't just change something because a small percentage of stupid people don't like it, you have to have a better alternative first before you just change things that are already working well. You have to have a compelling case for why your idea would work better. Leftist progressives have not had a single good idea for decades, if they've ever had one at all. I'm not aware of an exception.

@JustIn-sr1xe that's part of it too, they know it's not going to work on everyone, that's the point. They're trying to draw as clear a line down the middle as possible, so they know who's with them and against them. Covid was them ramping that up to 10, they don't care if we see what they're doing anymore, they aren't talking to us.

@runnytimtim86none44 yes, that is the justification the left uses, but they're wrong. They're wrong because those 2 things are unrelated, to repeal the 19th amendment would take a completely separate process than the process to overturning Roe, so even if that does happen, it wouldn't have happened because of Roe being overturned. It's like saying if McDonald's raises the price of fries, then Burger King will too. Maybe so. But that has nothing to do with McDonald's raising their prices, tangentially at best, McDonald's can raise their prices without Burger King being effected at all, or Burger King could also raise their prices, and they can even lower their prices.

@julius43461 the writing has been on the wall for quite some time there, the left never really stopped being racist, racism just stopped being socially acceptable. So they had to be more sneaky about it, install racial policies like welfare and affirmative action and pretend like they were the good guys.

@julius43461 and the extra funny part is most of the left's ideas about "progress" are just repackaged old socialist ideas that have already lead to the death and torture of millions upon millions of people. But it'll be different this time, because leftists are super smart and definitely have worked out the kinks this time. Meaningful and necessary change in society usually happens due to outside forces, most commonly advances in technology that make old norms obsolete. Human nature really doesn't change that much. That's the part the left seems to forget, or neglect, or in the worst case, purposefully ignore because it's a key component in their seizure of power.
