@Gormen Freeman one thing that makes more sense to me than the traditional left/right paradigm, or even the political compass axis is the pyramid structure, where you have liberal, fascist, and communist in the respective corners. Liberalism valuing liberty most, fascism valuing order and tradition, and communism valuing progress and equity. Shortfatotaku has a really good video breaking it down in detail, but it really gives a lot of nuance to where people actually lie within those confines, very few people are really going to be on an extreme corner, but pretty much all moderates in the west would be towards the top corner (liberal), both traditional liberals and conservatives, because they value liberty the most, but liberals would be a little towards the left side of the slope, since the value progress and equity more than tradition and order, even though liberty still trumps both of those, and conservatives would be towards the right side of the slope, since they value tradition and order over progress and equity, but still not as much as liberty. But it also explains why communists call everyone a fascist, and fascists call everyone a communist. Because they're both on the extremes, to a communist, progress and equity are ALL that matters, so whether you're an actual fascist that values tradition and order above all else, or you're a liberal that values liberty, it doesn't matter to them, if you stand in the way of progress and equity, you're a fascist. And fascists see anyone standing in the way of tradition and order in the same way. That's why fascists and communists can seem the same in a lot of ways. Because they are. Their tactics are the same, but to serve a different end.
