@zxyatiywariii8 in your grandparents' day, women didn't work for the most part, we weren't outsourcing most of our business to foreign countries that don't give a shit about labor laws, we weren't paying outrageous tax rates to fund people who don't feel like working, and we weren't all demanding more money for working less.

These people who say they were told to get a college degree, and "everything else will work out" were clearly only halfway paying attention, I never once heard that advice. I heard the first part a lot, that you should get an education, but nobody was saying that's it, that life is easy from there. That's just what people wanted to hear. There's no easy button. You still have to work hard, with or without a degree.

For real. I don't think anyone is denying that shit is rough now, but crying about it and demanding a handout isn't helping anything. That kind of mentality is what got us in this shit situation in the first place. People rolling up their sleeves and taking matters into their own hands is what built the wealth that made this entitlement possible.

@Tential1 seriously, it's ridiculous. We see the success of the past, the US grew from an emerging country to the most powerful country in world history in just a few generations. We have the playbook, we know exactly how that was achieved. People want all the good things with none of the bad things these days, that's the problem, they're too immature to realize that just doesn't really exist in real life very often, to have the good things you want, you usually have to endure some bad things. That's just how it goes. So we can look back at the past and say it was cruel, and inhumane, and that's true in a lot of ways. But it worked, if your goal is wealth and power.

@logan_wolf then those people were stupid, and you were stupid for listening. Having a degree can make things easier, but it's not a magic button that grants you all the money you need for the rest of your life. If you believed that, you should have bought a timeshare while you were at it.
