Voting rights should be earned. How we go about doing that is debatable, could be income based, or at least tax based, it could be based on military service or community service, there are numerous schools of thought. But the important part is that people should have to do something to earn the right to vote, to show that they're actually invested in the process and not just checking a box because the TV people told them to.

@jmlaw8888 I wouldn't want to do anything that excludes working class people from voting, I don't want to live in a society where only the wealthy can vote. That wouldn't go well for anyone except the wealthy. But I do somewhat agree in principal, it's not the money that's important, it's the fact that you're willing to actually give something and go through the proper necessary steps. Like you said, similar to a passport. Nothing that costs an arm and a leg, just a symbol that you actually care about the process.

@TearThatRedFlagDown and these ideas are all good for people who actually think, but we're several generations into very strong indoctrination that any kind of boundary for voting is some kind of breach of your rights. Which is completely absurd, there are steps you have to take to get a driver's license, there are steps you have to take to own a home. None of these are considered an infringement of rights, because you still have the right to get a driver's license, or own a home. You just don't get it because you want it, you have to do something to earn it.

Is that Ron Perlman in blackface in the thumbnail?

@brightongoodwin1267 because most people in your demographics just vote for the free gibs, which only gives the government more power. That's why there's such a big push by the mainstream establishment to make voting easier, and to encourage everyone to vote.

@TearThatRedFlagDown yep, but once leftism has infected a host nation, it only goes in one direction. We will never roll back any of the entitlements that have been given, it's always more more more. And the same people who stamp their feet and demand more entitlements scratch their heads and wonder why the government has so much power.
