I don't really know enough about him or the situation to know this with any accuracy, but I do know that former extremists or cult members are often the most vocal and passionate about anti extremism and anti cult activism. It can also be a dangerous spiral sometimes, because that part of their mentality that led them to become and extremist in the first place doesn't often just go away, it's just sort of dormant, and they can often latch onto a sort of "anti extremist-extremism" without realizing it, if that makes sense. There's a content creator that has a channel called "Telltale" that's a prime example of this, he started out as an anti-cult/religious extremism channel and made outstanding content, very well thought out and as objective as he could be while talking about subjective content, he was raised Jehovah's Witness and left, so he has personal experience with cults and is also a recovering addict, so the guys had some rough times. But over time his channel morphed into Orange Man Bad propaganda, he's gone completely off the rails and is a full blown leftist extremist now, most of his videos are about how bad and evil Republicans are now. It's kinda sad actually, I don't think he even realizes that he left a religious cult for a pseudo religious, political cult.

  2. "It's not like they can call him an anti-vaxcer....." Carl hasn't been paying attention, of course they can. Doesn't mean they're correct, but they can just simply change definitions and call anyone anything they want, and their cult followers will blindly go along with it.

  3.  @E.Carbenia  yea his transformation has been unreal, his old videos were so well thought out and formulaic, he took a neutral approach and just applied the BITE model, without having any predetermination at all, he just looked at the characteristics of a religious group and saw where the chips fell. And now he just finds clips of obscure religious zealots and pretends like they represent every single person slightly right of center, reads articles by CNN and NYT, and pretends like it's infallible truth, meanwhile completely ignoring and dismissing all of the ridiculous behavior by far left extremists. You can even tell the change in his overall demeanor, he's so emotional and easily distracted now, he used to be a lot more calm and calculated. Damn, it's so crazy he was probably better off as a Jehovah's Witness.
