I'm 37, so it's been quite a bit since I was in school, late 90s to early 2000s. Things were already getting pretty bad back then, on the surface a lot of my teachers were just kinda dumb, I remember asking them things that really seemed like they should know, and they didn't know, it almost felt like they were learning the curriculum of that class along with us. But beneath all that, subtle political indoctrination was leaking through too, not every teacher, and it wasn't nearly as blatant and in your face as what I've seen now, not by a long shot. But most of my teachers seemed far more sympathetic to left wing ideals.

@sergeymyasnikov736 not all adults know those things, and more importantly not all of them give a shit about their kids enough to teach them. And even more importantly, not all of them even have parents in the first place, namely, a dad, very many of them don't. That's the whole point of public school existing in the first place, because it's an equalizer for kids who weren't given a fair shake in life in their parents.

@v8matey I got suspended from school once for fighting, my dad asked me why I fought the guy and I told him he was just a jackass that always harassed the people I sat with at lunch, and we tried to tell him to leave bc we didn't like him but he didn't get the memo. I guess you can call that borderline bullying? I dunno, it wasn't your traditional style of bullying, it was more so just some douche bag nobody wanted around but forced himself around us anyway. My dad said good for you, because I stood up for myself, and proceeded to ruthlessly make me do chores around the house for the few days I was suspended. I didn't get it at the time, but the lesson to be learned was that doing the right thing doesn't always yield positive results, sometimes you just have to make a difficult decision and be ready to own any negative repercussions that come your way, even if you didn't really do anything wrong.

@Edithae I had a history professor in college scream at me just for asking why we were taught about how evil the Nazis were, but not the communists in Russia, and pointed out that if we're just going by the head count, the communists outpaced Nazis by quite a bit. Notably, they didn't refute my claim or even attempt to. Just got angry and started accusing me of being on the side of Nazis.

I work at a kennel, doing dog boarding and shit like that, so we have a lot of entry level stuff that anyone can do. College kids or even high school. And my god the majority of those kids have no life skills whatsoever. I try not to be too harsh, because they're kids, a lot of them it's their first job, but for gods sake you wouldn't believe how many times I've had to "teach" someone how to wash dishes or mop a floor. WTF??? How does that even happen? I'm pretty sure I could put a monkey in front of a sink full of dirty dishes, give him a sponge and some soap, and the monkey could figure it out. I don't even understand how a borderline adult human can have such a small amount of functional intelligence.

I've been vindicated, I work with a couple of single moms that don't really care about politics, they used to always view me as the "crazy conspiracy guy". But the pandemic has opened their eyes to some things. Now they look at me like a prophet. I try to tell them I'm just a normal guy that pays attention, like they should have been doing years ago. They still don't get it. Their kids are all still going to grow up to be upside down brained shitheads.

Well we've been pumping most of our kids full of prescription drugs and processed food for several decades. So that's probably a factor.

Well they can't have that, if kids learned about taxes they might learn that taxes suck, and the government sucks. That wouldn't make them very good commies, now would it?

I hated history in school, it was so boring to me. But years later, as an adult, I grew to love history, I watch documentaries all the time. They just sucked at teaching it, more focused on an agenda than actually teaching what happened.

@PumpkinHoard where did you go to school? Because I'm about the same age, from the Houston area. And public school was shit back then too. Nothing even in the same galaxy as it is now, they weren't blatantly training us to be drooling communists that can't figure out what kind of fun parts we have and what we're supposed to do with them. But it was still just largely incompetent, and had a subtle but meaningful leftist tilt.

@PumpkinHoard ahh, so we're just worlds apart then. That's kinda crazy though because I would think England would be more leftist than the southern US. Given Houston is pretty suburban, at least my area, it's not like the stereotypical Texas where everyone rides horses around and has shootouts to resolve petty disagreements, lol. But it's definitely not a particularly "left" area.
