  1. It's probably algorithms more advanced than anything you would associate. That's how they're able to get such creepy, targeted ads and shit like that, if you've ever wondered why it seems like your devices know way more about you than they rightfully should. Because they do. It could be something as seemingly unrelated as people who buy red shoes are more likely to watch a certain show, or people who eat spicy food are more likely to have multiple sexual partners. I'm making up examples, I don't think those are actually true, but it really is shit like that, 2 things that your conscious mind would never associate, and they just gather all the data and are able to get a frighteningly accurate profile of you.

I remember when Twitter launched an algorithm to track "hate speech" and "racism", and found that the overwhelming majority of slurs and threats were coming from accounts that also posted leftist messages. And then immediately shut the program down. They just can't stop flinging poo in their own faces.
