My bosses have 2 daughters that are 35 and 20, the 35 year old is married, has 4 kids, she's cute, dresses professionally, does real well at work. The 20 year old is in art school, has a weird grandma haircut and dresses like a 1960s hippie, real antisocial, rarely caught ever actually talking to a person, she's usually completely immersed in her laptop. Guess which one is the leftist.

@conatus7309 you can have a moral framework without religion. And you can also be religious and completely ignore moral framework. Only about 10% of Americans are atheist, that means the majority of the left believe in God at least in some capacity.

@conatus7309 I think you're missing the point entirely here, the problem isn't with religion or a lack of religion, it's the far left, which in many ways can be considered a religion or a cult.

Yep, I used to kind of chuckle at the stuffy Christian conservatives types that would talk about how the left were all pee-doughs and demons, I've always agreed with conservatives more than liberals, but that was where I disagreed with them. But they're starting to seem a lot less crazy now. Not sure if I believe in literal demons or not, but if there are demons walking among us, I'm 100% certain that it's the far left.

Leftists seem to think that because something can be a fallacy means that it's always a fallacy. Unless you can point to a specific point in time where a current trend will stop, and give a specific reason it will stop there, you don't get to call a slippery slope argument a fallacy. You have to point out the fallacious part.

@conatus7309 who's making atheism out to be some amazing thing though? It's not even a thing at all, it's a lack of a thing. I guess I sorta see what you mean, because there are the "enlightened atheist" types who seem to think they're a super smart big brain just by virtue of being atheist, but just like with religions, that doesn't represent everyone that's an atheist. Those are just the vocal minority.

A lot of those "slippery slope fallacies" are seeming a lot less fallacious over time.

@justsomeguywithlasereyes9920 yea I see what you mean, but it's not like the left ever needs a legitimate reason to be bat shit insane lunatics. That's sort of their default setting.

@Svoorhout85 oh yea, I've heard of that condition. I think the scientific term is "stupid". Or maybe it's spelled "stoopid", I can't remember.
3
@FrenchLightningJohn no it's not, atheist is a lack of belief in God or religion. It can be an affirmative claim that there is no god, gnostic atheism, or it can be a lack of any claim, simply saying "I don't know", agnostic atheism.
3
@FrenchLightningJohn either way, it's just pointless arguing of semantics, I understand that you're trying to distance yourself from the militant anti-theist types, for good reason, they're insufferable twats, but atheist just means lacking a belief. It doesn't require any affirmative belief in any alternative.
3
@SeismicHammer exactly, I can use flawed logic to argue that a Labrador retriever is a type of dog, that doesn't mean that the conclusion is wrong, because obviously a lab is a dog, it just means I'm stupid.
2
@FrenchLightningJohn most atheists are also agnostic.

@justsomeguywithlasereyes9920 lmao, yea the moral puritan christians of the 90s and early 2000s were nothing compared to the moral puritan left today, I don't remember a lot of them advocating for completely deleting objectionable media from existence like the left is now, they were mostly just trying to keep things away from kids. Which I can understand to an extent, I think it should mostly be on the parents to keep their kids from material they don't want them to see, but I also understand you can't watch your kids 24/7. Either way, that was completely benign compared to what the left is doing today.
