@SNEEDANDBREED I know a husky that talks. Kinda. He only says "I love you" and "wooooo", and you have to kinda use your imagination with the I love you. He really says "raruvroo", but hey, close enough.

I don't mind a female lead necessarily, but it has to be internally consistent. I'm really sick and tired of the action movies with the ass kicking girl boss that's just as tough as all the guys, it's so annoying. Sure, an extremely skilled female could probably beat up unskilled men, even if they're a lot bigger, but when they have that big final fight with the highly skilled man and still win, I just roll my eyes, it's so dumb.

@MrCleates well everyone can and should be better, just in the general sense of self improvement. But that's not the point here, the point is the problems with social cohesion, more specifically with dating and marriage, are thoroughly one sided. Societal standards for men haven't really changed much, shifted a little, but still fundamentally the same. Standards for women have completely eroded, you can even make the argument there are no societal standards for women at all. Women celebrate other women being horrible and immoral, and there's virtually zero pushback, what little pushback exists is usually just discarded as "misogyny" and used to just further drive societal standards for women into the ground.

@housewilma4904 I work with several single women, and all of them openly proclaim themselves as "toxic" and will talk to each other so casually about their horrible off and on boyfriends, and how dysfunctional their relationships are. They trade stories about all the unbelievably childish and petty things they do to "get back" at the horrible boyfriends. It's really pretty disgusting, it's basically an ongoing contest to be the worst person, and they wear it proudly, the same way you would laugh about how you suck at dancing, or some other personal shortcoming that's ultimately pretty meaningless. Except these are not meaningless shortcomings, these are definitely behavioral flaws that they can and should try to make better, but they don't care, they have no interest whatsoever in being a decent person.

@housewilma4904 one of my coworkers was bragging the other day about how she's only living with her boyfriend because it's a free place to live, and she's actively looking for a "side guy". And not a single one of the other girls saw any kind of moral failing in that.

@SomeCanine my favorite ones are when they accidentally make the strong female lead an insufferable douche bag, and the attempted idiot minion male sidekick is actually pretty cool and likeable. I've seen this numerous times in recent media, they're so tone deaf they turn it up to 11 trying to pound "the message" into your head that woman good, man bad, it ends up backfiring.

@tkraid2575 the slow drip started a long time ago, and most people didn't even notice. With very few exceptions, the husband/dad in sitcoms is a dumb, hopeless oaf, that's always getting himself into easily avoidable trouble. And the wife is always a smart, loving, understanding sage of virtue who saves the day. And it's a pretty easy and funny trope, I think that's why most people didn't notice. But from my experience knowing married couples, the opposite dynamic is usually closer to the truth.

Star Trek is one of the best examples of a franchise that dives into political territory and does it right. They don't usually explicitly take a side, they ask the questions but don't give you a clear answer, because they respect the audience enough to let you think about it yourself and draw your own conclusion, and "diversity" in their properties is the actual version of diversity, where there are all sorts of different characters but they all have some kind of reason to make you genuinely interested in them.

@EvaluateAssimilate that's interesting that you brought up music, and I think that's a really salient point. I can't play any instruments, my brain just doesn't move in that direction for whatever reason, but I think anyone who gets really into any kind of art, and that can even be sports to a degree too, is going to get a more grounded perspective of life through that. Because you can't get better just by seeking immediate results, you have to do things the right way if you want the right results, and it takes time and real dedication. You have to do it yourself, other people can help you along the way, but ultimately it's up to you to put in the time, and you're not always going to know exactly where you are in the process, you have to have the humility to understand you're going to fail, you're going to have bad days, but that's all part of the process, you just keep working and doing things the right way, and positive progress will come with time. I think that's what's fundamentally lacking in these people (primarily women) who embrace being awful people, and are never satisfied or content. They're only seeking the results, they don't give a shit about the process. They want a "good man" but they aren't willing to work on themselves and be more attractive as a person. They want more money, but they're not willing to put in the time to work more hours or become more skilled or qualified. They want everyone to like them and be more interested in their stupid stories, but they're not willing to actually learn anything or become a more interesting person.

@noahmiller8042 it's a pretty weird example. And how many action movies can you think of where the protagonist never has to get into a hand to hand fight? That's part of the formula.

It really is one of the root causes of the collapse of western culture. If I had to point to the 2 single factors that I think have the greatest negative impact, it would be fatherless homes and over medication. Fatherless homes are obviously a direct effect of feminism, and pretty much any smaller problem you can point to has a root in one of those 2 bigger roots.

@thegreatergood8081 it's the same story every time too, the headstrong "I can do anything a man can do" woman, all the men are sexist towards her, blah blah blah, she probably kicks one of their asses and all the men respect her, because she "earned it", because apparently men just kick each other's asses to earn respect, in the universe of girl boss action moves. Seen it before.

@EvaluateAssimilate meritocracy is the direct enemy of communism. It's easier to cut off a tall man's legs than it is to make a short man taller, so communists will have none of people striving for self improvement. Not enough bread in the bread lines when people start figuring out they can have more.
