It's actually rather convenient that you can tell with nearly 100% accuracy if something is crap based on the difference of the audience review and critical review.

@butters-vs-chaos yea the movie review business has been a dirty business for a long time. Studios just simply pay for positive reviews, it's been that way probably longer than any of us really realize. Not always. It usually happens when a big budget movie just isn't good, they figure damn, already spent a ton of money on this garbage, might as well spend a little more to buy positive reviews, hopefully get some of that back in the box office. These days it's even dirtier, because it's not just movies that's finished product was a dud, it's movies with specific political agendas.

@butters-vs-chaos it's really a weird and unique industry if you think about it, because you really don't have to produce a good product to make money, it just has to look good enough for people to see it. After they've already paid, it can be complete crap and you still get your money. It's not like most industries where you're relying on repeat business, it's one and done. And sure, if it's complete crap people will talk and nobody will see it after that, but most movies make the majority of their money the first few days of release anyway, and if you make too many polished turds, you'll get a bad reputation and people will stop seeing your future movies. But I think that's a part of why movies mostly suck these last few years, there's definitely a political element too, but more importantly I think studios and producers are just starting to wise up to the game more, they're focusing more on making a movie that just looks interesting based on the trailer and less on making a movie that's actually really good.

@thomasvleminckx they already try to suppress it, and promote the "selected reviewers", as obvious as all this stuff is to people paying attention, and as much as we can laugh about it, there's a lot of normies that just don't really care, and will just glance at the critical reviews and take their word for it.
