My parents divorced when I was about 12 I think, my brother and I stayed with my dad because my mom was bat shit insane. That's why they divorced, she wasn't like that when we were kids though, she gradually slipped into insanity. And I mean the actual version of insanity, not the self induced psychosis that's over diagnosed today, the classical, real mental illness, the kind that's just a chemical imbalance in the brain that can't be stopped. Runs in her family. And it was hard for my dad, obviously, 2 teenage boys and working 50+ hours a week. Luckily we were old enough that we could at least survive on our own for the most part, it's not like we were little kids that needed constant supervision. Being a single parent isn't impossible, but it's certainly not ideal. And my dad was not a normal person either, there aren't many people who could endure everything he did and do it as well as he did.

@SweatyFatGuy exactly, that's been my usual experience too, they all whine about how they can't find a good man, and act like it's the fault of the entire male gender. They don't seem to realize that good men do exist, most of them are just already in a marriage or relationship with a good woman. Doesn't mean there's no hope for single moms, and they're just old dried up used goods, but most of the time they're old dried up used goods, through their own bad decisions. And I believe people deserve second chances, despite what it may seem like in this comment thread, I don't consider myself an overly judgemental person, I've sure as hell made some poor decisions in my own life. But I've also never acted like I'm owed anything, and I understand that my own bad decisions have put me in bad situations. You live and you learn, and you're supposed to do something to improve your situation, not just cry about it and expect the world to forgive you and pretend like there's nothing wrong, when there's obviously something wrong.
