@trustworthydan I don't think it will die completely, at least not in the near future. There's a reason Lamb of God still resonates with metal fans, because they're real, raw heavy metal, they're creative, they're talented. AI could produce sounds that are similar or maybe even the same, but it can't write songs like that, it can't perform like that.

@trustworthydan heavy metal is pretty unique though, because there's barely any mainstream industry within it. The handful of groups that have broken through and become mainstream are usually just really, really good, to the point where even people who don't like metal like some of their music, like Slipknot. So you can get rich playing metal, but it's not very likely. If being rich and famous is your goal, you should choose pretty much any genre besides metal. Because of that, most metal groups are really in it for the music, not the money. That's also why there's still so much diversity, metal hasn't bottlenecked into an unrecognizable mush mash of the same shit, like country, hip hop, and pop have. I can hear a brand new song by a group I like and know it's them before I even hear any vocals, most metal groups have a unique sound to their drums and guitars, just like vocalists have a unique voice. You can't say the same for country or pop. I bet if you asked a country fan who their favorite guitar player is, they wouldn't even have an answer. Because it's all the same shit. Nobody is "good" or "bad" at country guitar, because they all play the exact same shit. If a country group is on tour and their guitar player gets sick or injured, no biggie, just go to a local bar and ask if anyone plays guitar. Boom. You got a new guitar player. Nobody will even notice. If Lamb of God's guitar player or drummer gets sick, that's it, tour is over. They might get lucky and find another drummer or guitar player to fill in temporarily, but it won't be the same. They'll have to apologize before the show, like sorry guys, guitar player is sick, wish him well, we got this other guy so give him some love, he's doing the best he can.

@andrewostman3135 pop country music is the same, there's basically 2 mainstream country artists these days. Male singer and female singer. That's it. Within those categories, they're all the same thing, the music sounds the same, they sing about the same things. Modern country music is a parody of country music.

@illuminahde nice. They're actually not checked off on my list, I know, I'm ashamed of myself, but I haven't really been going to shows for the last decade or so, and I was kinda late to the party, I didn't listen to Lamb of God back in the days when I was going to shows a lot.

@illuminahde my fiancee got us tickets for Avenged Sevenfold in October, I live in Houston too. I'm pretty psyched about that, Falling in Reverse is opening. Not really my style of music, but I'm really starting to like them as I've listened to more, their vocalist is crazy talented.

@andrewostman3135 I'm convinced that certain country artists are just making fun of country music. Old Dominion in particular, they're actually not that bad, they're one of the only groups that I actually think is pretty talented, but their lyrics are hilarious, there's no way that's genuine. That dude has to be sitting there thinking of the dumbest, most cliche "country" things to say. They have a song where he's literally just saying "I was on a boat" and "I was getting my boat on"🤣🤣🤣 it's amazing. He's probably laughing his ass to sleep every night knowing that people take his music seriously.

@kozmikhero6749 I was gonna say something similar. I generally think it's weird and kind of disrespectful to use people's likeness post mortem like that, but there are acceptable exceptions. The Ghostbusters Afterlife movie was one, they had a hologram Harold Ramis in the end, I know that's not AI, but still the same concept. And from everything I've heard about him as a person, I feel like he would have had no problem whatsoever with that, if it were possible to ask him, he would probably laugh and say hell yes, I would love a last hoorah with the boys. Norm is the same.

@illuminahde yea I've been impressed by his vocal range too. And A7X should be interesting, I'm not sure if you've heard their new album, but it's...... Something. I haven't listened to it enough to really say it's bad necessarily, but it's sure as hell not like anything else they've put out. Either way, they're still gonna play the classics at the concert, there will be a riot if they only play new stuff and none of the old.

Heavy metal still stays strong. It's because with only a few exceptions, there isn't really a mainstream metal industry. A few groups break through, but thats usually because they're really just that good, like Slipknot. If you're getting into music for money, metal isn't the way to go. Most of them are still in it for the music, not the money.

@josephfisher426 David Allen Coe did an album with a group called "Rebel Meets Rebel", its him on vocals with the members of Pantera. It's country metal, and it's amazing.
