Most people don't pay attention to politics, either because they're too busy, just uninterested, or because they're a dumbass that's not capable of understanding anything deeper than eating, sleeping, or fucking. Because of that it's incredibly easy to manipulate the masses.

@stephendise7946 honestly I think it's pretty normal to be apathetic towards politics up until a certain age, I'm a millennial, 38 to be exact, and I didn't give a single shit about politics until my mid 20s, didn't really start paying a lot of attention until a little after 30. And I don't see a problem with that. I remember college professors pressuring the students to get politically involved, and I thought that was kinda messed up. These are teenagers, most of us just want to party and enjoy the college experience. So let us. The only reason an older person would try to pressure someone who's just barely legal voting age to get active is if they want to persuade that young person towards their side. I don't like that. People need to find their own legs in politics, on their own time. I think the best thing for a healthy political climate is to stop pressuring young people to get involved, we need to evolve past the "it's your duty to vote" mentality and have something more like "it's your right to vote, but you don't have to if you don't want to".

@TuhljinTampergauge I agree, I think 21 would be a suitable voting age, with exemptions for military. I've always tried to remain neutral as far as encouraging or discouraging young people in politics, if they show an interest I'm more than happy to engage, but if they say they're not interested I say fair enough, that's up to you.

Druid of Scosglen centrist positions exist, but they're pretty much useless when the left is progressively pushing as far to the left as possible. Centrist or moderate positions are basically like pissing in the ocean at this point, it's not gonna get anyone anywhere. And I don't have an answer, because I don't want far right policies either.

@stephendise7946 well I'm not proposing any solutions, because I don't know a solution to the current decay in society. Honestly I'm not sure there is one. I'm admittedly being pretty idealistic, I'm just giving my views about what a healthy political climate would look like. That ship probably waved bye-bye to western society a long time ago.
