I've worked at a kennel for 9 years, and pits are by far the most problematic breed we have to deal with. And also the most problematic owners. Most of the time if a dog doesn't do well with the group and we have to give them the boot, the owners are cool and understanding, they live with their dog, they know about all their quirks and habits. If we tell them their dog was too rough or even aggressive, they're usually like yea that checks out, he's kind of a little asshole. But pit owners are different, they tend to think of their sweet angel babies as these perfect dogs that would never hurt a fly, and of course they're like that at home, with their own families. But in a group setting, with 40 other dogs, that's a different story. Seems like it's always the pit bull owners that wanna fight with us and act like it's somehow our fault that their dog wasn't acting right, or like were lying or something.

@mountainmanking4712 I'm a kennel worker, boarding, community play, that kind of stuff. Almost exclusively dogs, we board cats too but that's mostly just for the dog owners that also have cats. 9 years experience doing basically every position within the company, I've spent as much time around dogs as I have with people in the last 9 years. So I'm not talking about your dog, or your sisters dog, or your neighbors dog, I'm talking about dogs in general, and I'm not talking about any particular breed or particular dog, I'm just talking about patterns that emerge over such a large sample size.

Here's my take on "fat acceptance" - people can do what they want with their own body, eat 30 cheeseburgers and an entire cake for lunch, I don't care. But it's not healthy, and it's not beautiful by most people's standards. I don't think you should make fun of people for being overweight, it's just rude and kinda low brow, I prefer to make fun of people for being a dumbass, but that's just me. And you should encourage people you care about to be confident and comfortable in their skin, but you should also encourage them to be healthy. The left thinks they have a monopoly on "empathy" and "care", but what they're really doing is enabling people to continue bad habits and destructive mentalities. If you actually care and have empathy for someone, you find the balance between being positive and encouraging but also being real and honest with them, even if it might be hurtful in the immediate scale, that kind of honesty is actually helpful in the long run. Letting someone continue to destroy themselves without even attempting to show them another perspective is far more damaging than indulging their delusions.

This is a big reason I consider myself more libertarian than conservative, weed is no big deal, it's pretty damn harmless on the scale of other drugs, far less harmful than alcohol. I still don't think it should be fully legal, at the least there should be some restrictions, and kids shouldn't be smoking while they're still developing emotionally. But it's not a "gateway drug", it doesn't lead to other substance abuse, it doesn't lead to violence, worst case scenario is you get a little lazy and complacent. There are plenty of people who only smoke weed, no other drugs, not even tobacco. You can't say the same for people who use cocaine or meth or anything else, hard drugs like that absolutely lead to other substance abuse, in most cases, but not weed.

It's not about what a libertarian views as immoral, it's about them not wanting you or anyone else to tell them what's immoral, in the legal sense. A libertarian can have any moral framework they want, the law isn't supposed to legislate morality, it's supposed to limit harm. Murder isn't illegal because it's immoral, it's illegal because it causes harm. And those 2 things often do intersect, but that's kind of the whole point, if you consider something I do to be immoral, but it doesn't hurt anyone, tough shit, you can just choose not to do whatever that thing is and leave me be.

@decepticonxhunter4850 some people have open marriages. I think it's gross and creepy, and in most cases it probably does cause harm, even if they have an agreement. But it's not for me to decide. We have to be able to accept a certain level of harm, eating unhealthy foods causes harm too, not even just to the person who eats it, if a dad decides to be a big fat fatass and eat 5 Big Macs a day, that will eventually hurt his family if he dies of a heart attack at 45. But you have to eat, so we don't make being a big fat fatass illegal. But, murder is by any reasonable measure, very well across the line of acceptable harm. There has to be discretion in these kind of things, that's what the law is for. And that's why libertarian and anarchist are 2 different things.

@DaedalusHelios yep. And I agree with him in most of his principles, even as an atheist, I definitely think society should take a more Christian approach to morality. But I don't think this is exclusive to Christianity, and I don't agree with a lot of the tactics he advocates for. That being said, I'm 100% behind a lot of what The Daily Wire is doing, I think conservatives need to fight back and try to shift culture, and show through their own ideals that their ideals are good. We can make real change this way. It's hard, and it requires collective effort. And this is very dangerous, because collectivism almost always ends in atrocities, but the left is already doing that, and we're already definitely going down a road that ends in atrocities. We have to flirt with theocratic fascism or our society will collapse, that's it, those are the only options. It sucks, I hate it, it probably ends in collapse either way, but using theocratic ideals to counter communist ideals is the only option left available, it's either that or just bend over and take the communist stick.

@NoTrust100 for real, in fact if I were recommending a large breed that's good around kids, Golden Retrievers would be my #1 pick. Most of the time their temperament is excellent, like I said before, there can be some aggression issues sometimes, but rarely, and the same is true for literally any breed. It's considerably less common with Goldens than most others. They're not labs with long golden fur, I used to think the 2 breeds were pretty much the same until I learned more about them, their behavior and temperament are way different. Goldens are a lot smarter than labs, they're actually the 4th most intelligent breed according to most reputable rankings, easy to train, versatile. And I'm not some golden retriever fanboy, my personal favorites are blue heelers and border collies, but Goldens are great dogs.

@angiew2324 there's an aggressive rottweiler that comes to my work a lot, used to scare the shit out of me, he scares the shit out of most people. He's never bitten anyone, I think he's just punking us out because he thinks it's funny, but when I used to try and go in there to get his food bowl or fill his water, he would charge at me, about gave me a heart attack every time. One day I just blocked it out and walked in there like there wasn't even a dog, completely ignored him, and he didn't even budge. Now he loves me, gets all waggy and wants to play every time he sees me, still acts the same to pretty much everyone else, like he wants to eat their face. You absolutely can change the way animals act towards you by just changing your demeanor.

Exactly, and it doesn't necessarily have to be a paying job, but most of us need a paying job to get by, so it typically serves both of those purposes, if you're doing it right. All these lefties think they're unhappy because they don't have enough money, but nothing would ever be enough for them, no matter how much they have, they always want more. The real reasons they're unhappy is because they don't have a purpose, and because they're burdened with constant guilt because of how horribly they treat everyone. They may seem like monsters who don't care, and that's partially true, but on a subconscious level, they know they're no good, and that's why they're never happy. They want to drag everyone else down.
