  1. Video games have definitely become more geared towards being addictive over the years, with the old games like Mario, you beat the game and then it's over. That's it. You might revisit it now and again, but once you've beaten it there's really not anything left to do. You can't beat modern games. You just keep leveling up, infinitely. You play to upgrade stuff, so you can play harder levels to upgrade more stuff and play more harder levels. It never ends.
