 @ItzJustSwell yep. You can't rent a car until you're 25, voting should be the same. You need to not only establish that you're an adult, but that you're an adult who can take responsibility.

@ItzJustSwell I wouldn't mind making an exception for service members, or we could even raise the age of entry for the military and first responders. But that doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of young voters are hurting all of us by voting. There's nothing wrong with using discretion in who's allowed to vote, this idea that any limitations on voting rights is a breach of freedom is just gaslighting that the left uses to gain power. We absolutely can say "you can vote, you cannot" and still live in a free country, we would live in a more free country if we were smarter about our voting process.

I don't think age is the most pressing issue, I think voting privileges should be earned somehow. No net tax recipients, if you receive welfare and don't earn any money, or earn significantly less than what you receive, you don't get to vote, your vote was for the rest of us to take care of you. You've already received more than enough.

@finderskeepers1993 I don't want young people voting because they lack life experience. Would you want an 18 year old performing open heart surgery on your dad? Maybe it's a brilliant 18 year old, maybe they're top of their class in everything. But they still lack experience.

If 18-25 year old voters flipped and started voting more conservative, the left would instantly push to raise the voting age. Same with immigration.

My first presidential election year eligible was '04, the first time I voted was '08, when I was 24. I just didn't care about politics that much, and I didn't know a lot. I knew I was more conservative than liberal, because liberals are idiotic lunatics, but I didn't feel like my vote would be that informed. This is normal, we shouldn't pressure kids into voting, people should vote when they want to vote, and care about those issues.
