Are you a genie? If so I got first dibs on the first wish. I seen it first.

I wonder where she thinks the water on the outside of a drink comes from, when you take it out of the fridge and set it down for a few minutes.

It's quite annoying. Every time I tell someone I'm an atheist, I have to attach the disclaimer that I'm not some nutty communist antitheist, I don't hate Christians, I don't hate religion, I have no ill feelings towards anyone just for having a different religious view than me. I like Christian conservatives a hell of a lot more than far left anti-theists.

Never trust anyone who hides behind empty mantras like "live your dreams", or "love, not hate", or "coexist". These are not serious people, they've never even given a moment of thought to any ideas that oppose their ideas, they think that the only way to support "all the good things" is to always agree with them, and if you don't, then you want "all the bad things".

@grassfireu that's a circular argument. If everything has to come from something, then God had to have come from something too. If God can come from nothing, or just always exist, then everything can come from nothing, and just always exist, and God isn't necessary. And I'm not making any affirmative claim about where life and the universe came from, or why, I don't know. Because nobody knows.

@mark2073 show me where I argued for throwing plastic in the ocean. Go ahead. Point to the specific quote that I said.

@mjsower but you don't know that, you believe that. And that's fine, you can believe whatever you want to believe. I'm just not willing to make affirmative claims about things I really don't know.
4
@mjsower doesn't matter, my point is that all the things you're seeing aren't from a lack of religion, it's from people replacing religion with something unhealthy and harmful.

@Liquoricilicious they conveniently leave out that over 90% of sea turtles die within days of hatching, most of them die before they even make it from the beach to the shore.
3
@satkinson5505 how is that a religious view? I'm just saying I don't know. That's the opposite of a religious view.
3
@mjsower so if God doesn't need a creator, why does everything else need a creator?
3
@mjsower but that's not people like me, who just live without religion, that's people who replace religion with political zealotry. There's a very important distinction there. If you knew me, you probably wouldn't know I was an atheist unless you asked me, or it came up in conversation somehow. I live my life pretty much the same as any Christian conservative, I don't just completely disregard tradition and moral framework, I understand and respect the importance of all that. Plus, not every leftist is an atheist, only about 10% of the world's population is atheist. Even most people left of center in the US are Christian.

@grassfireu seems like the people making false assertions about things they don't really know are the ones trying harder to make things make sense. I'm perfectly comfortable saying "I don't know" to things I don't know.
3
@mark2073 and how many turtles is that? What is the death rate, or raw numbers of deaths related to plastics?
2
@froggiman1 that's like when people say "it is what it is", wtf does that even mean?
