  1. I'm 39, with a wife and a kid, I work full time. I don't need friends. My "friends" are a handful of coworkers I might watch the fights with on Saturday night if the stars align. That's enough for me.

  3. I get what it means, it just doesn't mean what the people who talk about it think it means. Emotional intelligence is being in control of your emotions, and not letting others control you through emotional manipulation.

  4.  @aPumpkn  sure, in broader terms, but it's not fallacious to talk about specific kinds of intelligence. Someone who's smart about not letting people emotionally control them isn't necessarily smart in other areas.

  6. And this is why I consider myself more libertarian than conservative. I don't believe in one size fits all solutions to relationships, if it works for you, great, but that doesn't mean that's how everyone should live their life.
