@alexbuswell3500 it wasn't easier 40 years ago, people just didn't cry about nonsense as much. What's considered "hard" today was just normal work stuff 40 years ago, even 20 years ago.

I'm a millenial, 39 to be exact, and I work considerably less hard than I did in my early 20s. Because I don't have to work hard. I can go 50% on autopilot and still run circles around pretty much everyone under 30, they do absolutely nothing. There is no more competition at most jobs, Americans have so much artificial job security, due to all the laws and regulations, you don't have to do a great or even a good job. Just show up on time, most of the time, and don't do anything incredibly stupid. You'll never get fired. It's sad, but it's reality.

@robbyrdog that stuff didn't just happen by pure magic, it happened because each individual worker was carrying a lot more weight. There were fewer people in the workforce producing the same amount of goods. So higher wages. That's basic common sense. I guarantee the overwhelming majority of Gen Z couldn't last 1 day in the 1980s workforce. It's changed a lot just within my lifetime, my first jobs were in the early 2000s and people got fired all the time just because they sucked.

@JohnathanTotten-oh9vy and are you really crying about housing taking up half of your pay? That's pretty normal my man, it's called living paycheck to paycheck. More than half of Americans do. How much excess money do you expect to have?

@JohnathanTotten-oh9vy be more valuable and someone will pay you more.

Because they don't see the day to day grind, they only see the end result. They want those results but don't want the day to day grind. Entitlement at it's most obvious.

I'm not entitled, I just want more stuff without doing more stuff! -every entitled socialist

@QuadDamage666 that's what happens with excessive regulations, you end up with an army of drones that do just enough to not get fired, and the companies are completely content with that, because it's cheaper on their bottom line. Hard work isn't rewarded like it used to be, because it doesn't need to be.

Maybe if we didn't outsource all of our hard work to starving 8 year olds in China, things would be cheaper here.

@user-nf6iq9sp2y you work 30 hours a week and you're complaining about not having enough money? Good lord the entitlement with you looney tunes is off the charts. How is crying about things you can't control going to make your life better? Yes, the economy sucks, yes we have been screwed royally by the political establishment, and that's not your fault or mine, and we should do what we can to change it. But in the meantime, you should also take personal responsibility and do what's in your control to improve your life.
