I dunno about that, there's a reason not every young person believes this crap, even though all of them are exposed to it. It's a failure of morality, if you really think you can get a bunch of free stuff without having to work for it, and nobody else has to suffer for that to happen, then you just haven't thought critically about it, or you don't care, as long as it isn't you that suffers. I won't give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm not saying they're irredeemable, broken people, but they have to seek redemption before they can be fixed.

That's why they short circuit when they're challenged, they don't really have a follow up to their talking points, because they don't even understand their own talking points. It's like a parrot, it doesn't know what "hello" means, it just knows people make that noise, so it makes the same noise.

Not only that, it's also an ethical dilemma. What someone does in their private doesn't directly effect you all the time, but there are downstream societal effects when we start affirming people's delusions. That's not empathy, it's enabling. The truly empathetic thing to do would be a dose of tough love, and harsh reality.

Back in my day, these people would have just gone through a goth phase. Except it's a lot easier to just stop wearing dark clothes and makeup, at the worst you might end up with some tattoos you regret. These kids are going to have a much more difficult battle with recovery.😊

@justincase1919 the average dem voter isn't politically involved at all though, they pay attention to politics for about 15 minutes, once every 4 years. I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about the far left activists. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt as just being ignorant, and they are ignorant, and stupid, very, very stupid, but they're also deeply immoral people, there's something seriously wrong with them. Everything they say is a lie, they'll take anything you allow them to take, and they won't have a second thought about it, morality is a completely foreign concept to them. The only thing they know about morality is that it's a thing that normal people care about, and they can use that to their advantage.

@seeyalateralligator00 and it's hard to tell if they're just unaware of how contradictory it is, or if they just don't care. My stepdaughter is 22 and fresh out of college, and she's got a somewhat concerning degree of lefty brain rot. Not a full blown looney, there's hope for her. But she genuinely doesn't see how it's contradictory to complain about racism while also blaming white people for everything bad that's ever happened. She really doesn't see it, no matter how clearly I map it out for her.

Technology has made too many things too easy. We have to actually use our mind and solve problems less and less the more we invent things to do it for us. Some people still know how to think and solve problems. But it's no longer necessary for survival.

It is, but from my understanding, there's a pretty high bar for a conviction, because of the protection of freedom of speech. There has to be enough evidence that it was a credible threat, and that there was actual intent and plausible action. You can't just say the words and get convicted, that can be played off as a prank, or a joke.

Yea I don't even believe her story about being abused as a baby. Not because that never happens, of course it does. But she's clearly not an honest or moral person, she is absolutely the kind of person who would make up a sad story to make people think her ridiculous views are more acceptable.

@ChrisPierreBacon that's not hypocrisy, some people just have a more traditional view of sex and relationships, and think that society as a whole should step back and have a less casual attitude towards all of it. I'm not asking you to agree, and I'm not even saying that I agree with that, because I don't, but it's a completely consistent ideology if you look at it from a biblical perspective of valuing purity and waiting until marriage for sex.

This is the way I see it, if you have a little kid that likes to play dinosaur, that's completely normal, you play along and encourage them to be imaginative and playful. But if they get waaaaaaay too into it and start pretending to be a dinosaur all the time, and they're even asking their teacher to address them as a dinosaur, eventually you're going to have to talk to them and say hey buddy, you know this isn't real, right? You're not a dinosaur.

@CSLoonie and that was normal for us, I turned 18 in 2003, and I didn't really give a damn about politics either. I knew I wasn't a leftist, I had learned about socialism and similar ideologies, and had enough sense to know that they're ridiculous, and childish. But I didn't really care about current events and elections until more like my mid 20s. Most people younger than that who care about politics were pressured into caring about politics.

@Harold_Callahan sounds like you and your family are winning at life, good for you. I've found that a lot of tomboys do grow up into beautiful, fun, charming women. My theory is that while the "pretty" girls are more concerned with popularity and materialism, the nerds and tomboys are developing a real, authentic personality that's all their own. I'm not trying to say the popular kids are all bad people, but there is a tendency to conformity in those circles, and that can often result in them becoming boring, unremarkable adults.

Everyone has limitations on what freedom means, we don't allow murder, because giving people the "freedom" to murder infringes on the rights to life of any of their potential victims. Many people view abortion the same way, I'm not asking you to agree with that opinion, but your assessment of it being antithetical to freedom is objectively incorrect.

I've always thought it was amazing that "reality has a liberal bias" ever became a common phrase, because it couldn't be further from the truth. Conservatism at its core is seeing the world in an honest and realistic way and forming your views accordingly. Liberalism at its core is seeing the world the way you want it to be, and trying to conform reality to that.

@BellePal yes it is. You don't have to push diversity if you want equal rights under the law, you just give everyone equal rights and let the chips fall where they fall. If a certain field is dominated by one or a few ethnicities, so what, that probably means those ethnicities are interested and talented in that field, and that's a good thing, because that means the best are doing it. It doesn't matter what field or what ethnicity we're talking about.

They do a somewhat clever bait and switch, that I think most people don't even realize. A Republic is technically a type of Democracy, it's not the same as Direct Democracy, but any government elected by the people is under the greater umbrella of Democracy. But they don't mean the umbrella term, they mean direct democracy. They're just trying to obfuscate the terms so they can avoid a real discussion and just argue over definitions instead.

Imagine if you meet someone named Robert, and they say "please, call me Bobby", pretty much everyone would be completely fine with that, "sure, nice to meet you Bobby". Now imagine the same guy immediately starts screaming at you and says "don't you ever call me Bob!!!". At the very least you would privately think damn, what was Bob's problem? A lot of people would want to call him Bob just out of spite, you don't have to be an ass about it.

I used to think the same thing, but the more you talk to these people and see the mask slip, you start to realize they're just awful people who want to be part of an ideology that rules with an iron fist, and victimizes, abuses, and eliminates everyone who stands in their way. You have that right the same as they have the right to criticize, and other religions have the right to criticize them. I really don't understand what part of this is hard to understand. Do you expect religious people to just be totally fine with every other religion and treat them all as equally valid? You haven't met a single religious person if you really think that. That's why the law says that people are allowed to worship as they please without any threat of legal punishment, as long as how they worship doesn't violate any other existing laws. It doesn't say everyone has to like them, or the way they worship.

@TheHSIHP that's not my ridiculous standard, that's yours. Someone saying "hey, you shouldn't kill your unborn baby" doesn't have to take care of your baby for you. That's ridiculous. They didn't make you conceive the baby, it's not their responsibility. That would be like someone getting killed over a gambling debt, and you say "hey, don't kill that dude because he owes you money", and I retort with "well you should pay his debt for him, or you're a hypocrite". It's ridiculous.

They are that, but it goes deeper than that. There's a reason some people fall for it and others don't, it's not just environment and external factors. There's a personality defect involved too. @TheHSIHP so what are you doing to help? How much of your money do you donate to women's causes? You shouldn't need the government to force you to help people, if you believe this out of principle. You should lead by example. Complaining on the internet doesn't count. If you really believe these things you're saying, and you're not actively doing everything you can right now, then you're doing more harm than good, because you're telling everyone that's watching that you don't actually want to do it yourself, you just want the government to force everyone else to do it.

And rich people exist, and they would still exist regardless of your life situation, and they would still exist in a more socialist economy, in fact they would have even more money in a more socialist economy, and we would all have less. The left's insanity and complete inability to hold a moderate position has driven me all the way to the full blown pro-life side. If you had asked me as recently as a few months ago, I would have said that I'm technically pro-choice, even though I find abortion disgusting and immoral, but it's also not up to me to decide morality, and I understand the argument for extreme circumstances. But the further into madness the left has devolved on the issue, the more I've seen that those lunatics are the reason society just has to draw a hard line sometimes. In a society without leftism, we could probably have some kind of legal and extremely restricted options for abortion, but the left isn't pro choice, they're not for women's rights, they just want to kill babies. I know that sounds overly reductive and dramatic, but that truly is their position.

@dth91 yea it's one of those things where you have to take the good with the bad, I consider myself a free speech extremist, not an absolutist, but I side with free speech and expression almost all the time. So as vile and sometimes dangerous as the left is with their speech, on principle I have to allow it, because writing laws to restrict it never ends well.
