  2. But there's definitely a lot we don't know about consciousness, why you think the thoughts you think and I think mine. Maybe you're not comfortable calling that a "soul", but it's just our attempt at explaining a concept that can't really be articulated in words or explained by science.

  3. I'm an atheist too, and I think the whole soul thing just lies in the "we don't know" category, I don't outright reject the idea of the supernatural, just skeptical. But I also willingly admit that there is a lot we don't know about existence as a whole, and as far as our understanding now, that would technically lie in the "supernatural" category, since we don't really have a sufficient natural explanation. Doesn't mean there is no natural explanation, but there may be or even likely is a certain portion of being that we just can't understand.
