I saw that movie in the theater, and after it was over I pissed on a tree and talked shit to it the whole time.

@ashleybrown4754 we can actually tell the chemical composition of the atmosphere on distant planets already. You would think a species that's advanced enough to actually travel to another planet would have much more sophisticated systems of scouting planets in that way, and find Earth and be like oh shit, lots of water. Water kills us. Alright, not that one, moving on.

@pleasehelpmydog the big plot hole that ruined The Quiet Place was when they learned how to do that reverb thing with the girl's hearing aid to stun the aliens, they always shrieked bloody murder. Which...... Seems like it would attract every alien within a 2 mile radius, right on their asses. Throughout the rest of the movies they can't even wear shoes, because their footsteps would attract any alien within hearing distance, but an alien screaming at the top of it's lungs (or whatever organ they breathe with) doesn't attract anything at all? Really?

@jayfrancelf yea that's true, technological advancement doesn't always go in a consistent, upward trajectory, even within our species on our planet. We think of potential aliens as being hyper advanced and intelligent, because we would have to be far more advanced to achieve intergalactic travel. But maybe they just happen to live on a planet that has an abundant resource of some kind of super fuel, like you just put some in a bottle and light it, and PEW!!! It launches off into outer space. Wouldn't take a lot of intelligence or ingenuity to scale that up. Which is actually a horrifying thought. Primitive, stupid aliens, that have access to some crazy gas that's 100x more powerful than anything we can imagine. I have a movie idea now......🤔

@jayfrancelf still pretty sketchy that they went to a planet covered in a liquid that's highly toxic to them. I guess we can ascribe that to them basically being dumbass aliens too, but that sounds more like the plot of a comedy than a horror/thriller. It actually kind of is the plot of an indie comedy called "Evil Alien Conquerors", it's really, really good. It's about 2 aliens that come to conquer earth, except they're complete morons with no special strengths or abilities, and no plan whatsoever.

But we knew we wouldn't be able to breathe on the moon without technological aid, and we accommodated for that. And we also didn't invade the moon to launch a hostile takeover of the host species. Probably.

@TalentCaldwell but it didn't start out like that. Maybe later survivors learn that because of them, and that could set up a 3rd movie or something. But you would think the entire original cast should be dead.

Because Joaquin Phoenix was a baseball player, so they had to tie that into the twist. And the daughter left a bunch of water laying around. Get it? It's foreshadowing. They did stuff that seemed like it wouldn't come back up, but it did come back up. So it really kinda seemed like it was gonna come back up. But it's surprising still! Kinda! It's foreshadowing! Yea you're right, it was dumb.

@TalentCaldwell so do they just keep the noise going on forever? They have to stop it sometime, and now the aliens know the general vicinity they're in. And they're probably gonna be really pissed.

@lucifers.morningstar3805 maybe the brother was religious, and devout enough to bless the water? He was a baseball player. Baseball players are weird, and superstitious, it's not beyond reason at all for him to be some kind of low-key super devout Christian.
