I'm old enough to remember when jokes were jokes, and if someone got offended they could just go be offended over there, and the rest of us would carry on being normal people.

@brianb99 the US used to be a liberal Republic, where people believed in the principle of agreeing to disagree. If you disagree with someone on a fundamental level, you just don't associate with that person as much as you can help it, and if it's a situation where you have to associate with each other, like work or neighbors, etc, you just hold your nose and let bygones be bygones. It's called social cohesion. People who want to break those unspoken rules are called authoritarians, and they're more morally bankrupt than the people they try to destroy because of opinions they don't like. Authoritarians are the most morally bankrupt people that exist.

The appropriate response is to give the outrage mob a big fat 🖕 and tell them you don't care. Nothing you ever say or do will please them, they're not actually offended by any of the things they pretend to be offended by. They're sick narcissists who get off on making people beg for forgiveness. Don't be part of their creepy fetish, don't give them that pleasure. Laugh in their faces, mock and ridicule them relentlessly. Mock them until they cry, and then mock them for crying.
