It really says a lot about how good (most of) How I Met Your Mother was, that the last season was pretty much universally disliked, but the series overall is still mostly liked.

@dragonforce627 yea Scrubs was awful. Hopefully current and future shows learn from Scrubs, 2 and a Half Men, and That 70's Show, if your lead actor has to quit for whatever reason, just stop the show.

@frankieseward8667 well Tracy is the mom, it's just that she died, and Ted ends up getting with "Aunt" Robin afterwards. So she's Aunt Stepmom Robin now, totally not weird.

@kendrake3993 yea I can't see myself rewatching it either, but I would still say it was a good show overall. It could have been a great show with even a decent ending, but the ending definitely takes it down a star.

It almost felt like they underestimated how popular the show would be, and they didn't really have an end in mind at the beginning. Like after 6 or 7 seasons, the writers were like soooo..... I can't really think of a good way to end this so....... Crap. I think we're in trouble.

@donnapauley8183 I've always found it amusing how I've seen people refer to the end as a "plot twist" though, they kinda give away the twist in the damn title of the show🤣 if the mom didn't die, then they would have called it "How We Met Each Other", because they would be telling the story together.
