@EmeraldRocker this isn't something that's disputed or has any debate behind it, North and South America are 2 different continents. That is a fact, not an opinion. And yes, a Mexican or Canadian is as much an American as someone from the US. We just say "America" or "American" when referring to people from the US and the US as colloquial shorthand, that doesn't mean people from other North and South American nations aren't also Americans. It's just more accurate to call them Brazilian or Canadian, it would sound kind of silly to call someone a "United States of American", especially considering they would know what you're talking about if you just say "American". This is common knowledge among everyone who's not a complete idiot. Although this thread has definitely taken my faith in what "common knowledge" in terms of geography means down a notch or 7.

@Char_les19 no, North and South America are actually 2 separate continents....

@L1GHTSK1NS41Y4N nooo.... North America is a continent, consisting of Canada, USA, and Mexico. Many Caribbean nations are considered part of North America politically but are geographically their own region. South America is a separate continent, consisting of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Peru just to name a couple, Central America is also technically a part of South America but is often referred to on its own since it's considered a separate geographic region.

@luiz3459 Eurasia just refers to the entire landmass of mainland Europe and Asia. That's not an actual continent, the same as the Middle East or Central America are not continents, these are just colloquial names for regions. Again, I can't stress this enough, this isn't my opinion, this isn't just some arbitrary system I made up. This is the geographic terminology agreed upon by 100% of people in the world who aren't idiots or insane crackpots.

@luiz3459 there are different continental tectonic plates that separate them. And they don't form a perfect boundary between each nation within continents, but this is what's considered the difference between a continent and a region. There are only 7 continents, North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica. Every single nation and land mass in the world is considered within at least one of these continents.

@luiz3459 instead of just continuing to be wrong, you could just Google this. Again, this isn't up for debate, what I'm saying is factually true. Australia is a continent and a country, like Antarctica. New Zealand and other neighboring island nations are considered part of the Australian continent, which is sometimes referred to as Oceania.

Most of the things that suck about the US boil down to the people who hate their own country. We would be just fine if you all left. Feel sorry for the country you would all go to though, but no givesies backsies.

Most restaurant workers who primarily make tips make a higher average hourly rate than people at comparable wage jobs.

You know that "warship" is a completely different thing than "worship", right? Ah who are we kidding. You don't.

@harrimat100 it's also not really a "Canadian" bird considering bald eagles have quite a vast territory, and it's also considered the national bird since "state" when referring to the US generally means a state within the US nation, I do understand that "state" is synonymous with nation in a lot of other continents, but each state in the US also has its own state bird. And most Americans probably do understand that Canada doesn't snow year round, throughout it's entirety. It's just a funny stereotype, and it does snow quite a bit throughout a large portion of Canada. But go ahead. Flex your big brain for the internet.
1
@harrimat100 that doesn't make sense at all, most birds travel across national and state boundaries regularly.

@harrimat100 but their territory spans most of Canada and the Continental US. It's complete nonsense to claim a bird species for one country when it's territory expands beyond that, to an equivalent degree. Just take the L buddy. You're speaking nonsense.

@luiz3459 dig a little deeper and see what you learn about why there's a descrepency about Europe and Asia, and North and South America, and why the countries who teach that have made that change. But I'm glad you actually looked something up instead of just stamping your foot and continuing to say complete nonsense. Congratulations. You're making progress.
