  1. Hollywood sure takes some "artistic liberties" when it comes to what they consider based on a true story. I could make a movie about the time I drove my truck to go slay a fire breathing dragon and say "well I do have a truck. True story."

  2. It's actually a great example, the whole "based on a true story" in the Hollywood context has nothing to do with the validity of said story, just the fact that it's a story. Like if my crazy uncle claimed to be abducted by aliens, with no proof whatsoever or even compelling evidence. I could make a movie about that and call it based on a true story. I mean..... He did tell the story. That part is true🤣
