You know, all things considered, I didn't think it was that bad with Kutcher. It was definitely better with Sheen, there's no question about that, but I think they recovered better with a new lead actor than most other shows.

@brandonsmith5880 I mean, they didn't really have much other choice than to go without Sheen, other than just cancelling the show. And it's not like it was unwatchable with Kutcher, I thought it was somewhat clever how they wrote him into the show. They went a little heavy with the Walden and Alan are gay but not really jokes, it did get a little exhausting, but overall I thought it was fine. It was better than Scrubs without JD, or That 70's Show without Eric.

@brandonsmith5880 I guess we partially agree, you're just being more critical than me. Neither of us hated it, neither of us loved it. I dunno though, I'm trying to put myself in Lorre's shoes, you definitely want to at least try to save the show, it's making you tons of money. And I don't think Kutcher was the worst possible casting choice as a replacement. It's damn hard to keep a show going without the lead actor. If nothing else I think we can agree it was a good effort.

@I.am_Groot eh, Alan is a sidekick, I think they were right to replace Charlie. Alan was funny but nobody would have cared about a show with him as the main character, he was funny because he's a hopeless douche that acts like the innocent victim but he's really a sneaky little weasel, that's why his life sucks. The ongoing joke is the care free but kinda sleazy guy always winning, and Alan always losing. It doesn't work if it's just him always losing, that would just be..... Sad.

@qttm that part probably would have happened with or without Sheen though, that's the thing about long running sitcoms, kids grow up and it's kind of a roll of the dice how that's gonna go. I've heard the actor got all weird and super religious too, suddenly decided he didn't want to associate with the crude humor that made him rich and famous.
