  1.  @mr.september2879  gravity is what's considered a weak force, meaning most other forces acted against something are much stronger than the force of gravity, when you throw a ball, it doesn't drop immediately because the force you put onto the ball by throwing it is much stronger than the force of gravity pulling it towards the ground, but eventually that energy from your throw is gone and the ball falls. And the more energy you put with your throw, the longer it will be before it falls. A body of water has no significant force being put onto it besides gravity, so that force is the default.
