  2. I actually had to explain to someone recently why we call US citizens "Americans", they were doing the "well axshully" fedora tip about how everyone from North or South America is an American. It's unbelievable that these people have so much time to think about being a pretentious douche and can't take the additional 5 seconds to realize that "America" is also in the name "United States of America", and it would sound pretty stupid, plus be a mouthful to call someone a "United States of American". As opposed to just calling someone a Canadian or a Bolivian.
