I just got my return back the other day, and I filed pretty early. I'm not the only one, about half of the people I've talked to either haven't gotten theirs or got it way later than usual, it typically only takes a few weeks for me to get my return. At first I was concocting some kind of conspiracy theory about how they just weren't going to give any returns at all, come out at the end of the year like "yea, about that, we spent it already. Whoops. No more tax returns." Obviously that's not entirely true, but I'm starting to think this was conditioning, like covid, to gage public response. See if people were outraged about a lot of the returns being late. We weren't. In a few years, they're probably just going to keep it all.

When I was a kid, we had a big tree in one corner of the backyard, so when my brother and I were playing wiffle ball, we had a "house rule" that if we hit the ball off the tree, it was just a judgement call, if we agreed that it would have gone over the fence, it was a homerun, if not, it was just in play, the same as if it hit the fence. When I got older and started hitting more homeruns, I started winning almost every time, so my brother wanted to change the rule to where it was always in play, no matter how high up the tree the ball hit. Thankfully my brother grew up, and he's a conservative now. Because he was definitely a liberal as a kid.

@michaelr5606 it's interesting you brought up pets though, because keep that in mind, the people pushing this are the same people who are trying to tell us what we can eat, they're the people who were telling us when we're allowed to leave the house and why, they're the ones telling us they should be in charge of our health care, they're telling us what we're allowed to read, what we're allowed to listen to, what we're allowed to say and when we're allowed to say it. We're pets to them. And the more people go along with shit like this, the more we really will become their pets, until they're quite literally in charge of when we're allowed to be alive, and for how long.

@erick__97 well, average gay people should speak up and speak louder. There's a reason the right isn't moving to the extreme the same way the left is, because normal conservative and libertarian people don't have a problem calling out the nasty people on the right, we're not as tribal as the left. People who are more closely aligned speaking out will always have more impact than people strongly opposed, I can tell a leftist they're going too far left, it's completely meaningless, but if other leftists were to tell them the same, they would be more likely to listen. Likewise, as a gay man, your voice will have more impact than any straight white conservative saying the exact same thing. I don't like this either, it's stupid, but it's the world we live in.

@Ch4rlz_ThA_Princ3 I've become a lot less tolerant of people who fell for the Democrat grift, I used to have a more dismissive attitude, like eh, it's not their fault completely, democrats are good at messaging and targeting the ignorant. But these days I do place the blame on people for being ignorant, and there's a level of arrogance to it too. If I hear someone making a convincing argument for why some guy is the best soccer player in the world, I'm probably gonna think ok fair enough, this guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about, but I still don't care because I don't know anything about soccer, and I'm not gonna run around screaming at everyone about how this dude's the best soccer player in the world just because a guy on the TV said so and I took his word for it. That's basically what democrat voters are. They haven't taken more than 5 seconds to actually learn anything about politics, they just listen to what the people on TV say and carbon copy those opinions, pretend like they're their own, and shout down anyone who tries to have a conversation about it and show them a different point of view.

@akokyayo2025 I want to work. If I hit the lottery jackpot tomorrow, I would still work. Now it would probably be a goof off job just doing something I like, where I can come and go as I please, if money wasn't an issue at all. But I would get bored and probably depressed otherwise, contributing to your community is an essential part of happiness, everyone wants to feel useful, like they're working towards a goal and doing something meaningful. Eating Cheetos and playing Xbox all day is not that. Maybe you just don't realize this yet, but it's an inherent part of human nature, and that's the big part that's missing from entitled leftists. They think they want money, and to be able to do whatever they want with no negative consequences, but what they really want is a sense of purpose.

@Prof_Bort_Yammy I'm not one of those super traditional conservative types, but I do find myself agreeing with them more often than I used to. The whole "moral decay of society" talking points used to make me kinda roll my eyes, like oh calm down, I don't want to be the morality police. But when you look at where we are as a society, it's hard to argue against it. I work for a small family owned kennel, doing boarding and doggie day care, stuff like that, my bosses are Christian conservatives, they're very politically involved and give a lot back to a lot of good causes. And I love it, I sleep good at night knowing that I'm working somewhere that provides a good service, owned and operated by good people. I'm not saying everyone who works at McDonald's or Walmart is a monster, I used to work at McDonald's, but I wish more people actually cared about what their job really stands for, and who is running the business. One person can't really change much about the moral character of our society, but if everyone acted like they could, or hell even about 60% of people acting like they could, we really could make a positive change in that way.
2
-
@Prof_Bort_Yammy oh absolutely. I've been talking about it a lot lately, the trans ideology being pushed on kids will be looked back on the same way we look at lobotomies now, like holy hell, they just carved people's brains up and everyone was fine with that!?!?!? And in a lot of cases the lobotomy patients weren't even "crazy", it was just people with chronic stress or anxiety, or any number of other disorders that people just live with in a lot of cases. Barbaric. And that was only half a century ago. We have this delusion that we're civilized now, so much smarter than all those stupid brutes of old days, and every generation feels that way, and every generation is wrong. There's always things we're doing now that future generations will look back on as barbarism. And the sad part is, there were definitely people back then in the moment saying hey, maybe let's not carve people's brains up. Yea? Just like you and I and so many other people are saying right now with what's being pushed by the left. But those people, probably like you and I now, were mocked and ridiculed by the powerful institutions that push this nonsense, and their idiot lemmings that follow everything they say.

@JTruong3rd and freshies too. Salties get all the attention, because they're giant, and terrifying, but freshies are also terrifying in a completely different way, they evolved to have unusually long legs for a crocodilian, because the salties dominate the waters, since they're so big. Freshies are also called "inland crocodiles", because they're far more adept at hunting on land, they can actually chase down prey and aggressively capture them, most crocodilians are ambush hunters. I dunno about you but a moderately big crocodile running at 40mph, with a hell of a lot more endurance than you would expect is just about as scary as an ungodly giant crocodile that's probably not going to mess with you out of aggression.

Sorry to hear that. My dad died a few months ago, fought pancreatic cancer for about a year, but eventually it was just too much. He was 75, had pancreatic issues for basically his whole life, since he was a teenager, it came and went, but this time was really bad. But the government never had any business in that, when the recommended treatment kept getting more aggressive, he eventually declined because he knew it was his time, there was nothing that could be done to cure him, chemo and radiation was just delaying the inevitable. He went peacefully at home. The last week or so was rough, he could barely breathe or talk, had lost a ton of weight. But up until that point he was doing pretty well. I don't even trust the government to fill a pothole, the idea of giving them authority over our loved ones lives is madness.

@Jaysun11B who, Tito Ortiz? No, he's a legitimate idiot, it's very well documented🤣 most fighters are actually very intelligent, Tito is a mongloid, he was only successful bc he's extremely strong and athletic. He has a long catalog of idiot comments, my personal favorite is "I'm glad to be back here, in Las Vegas, California"🤣🤣🤣🤣 if it was anyone else, I would have assumed he just misspoke. But that moron legitimately thought he was in California, all 30 or so times he was in Vegas🤣

@reeb9016 it's unbelievable really. I learned this lesson when I was really young, working as a pizza delivery driver in college, we had a store manager that was a collosal asshole, constantly screaming at everyone, he would fire people for no reason other than they just weren't that fast, everyone hated him. And one day he got fired because too many people had complained about him. So the new store manager was his polar opposite, real nice guy, but he was kinda stupid. Things started falling apart fast. And I was glad when the asshole was gone, but after a few weeks of the nice dumbass, I realized that sometimes a competent asshole is better than a nice dumbass.
BTW, not meant as a direct analogy, because Biden isn't even nice, he's incompetent AND an asshole, probably an even bigger asshole than Trump. But I think you get the point I'm making.

@Ch4rlz_ThA_Princ3 yea one thing that really pisses me off about Republicans is their failure to recognize how important emotions are when it comes to voting. We love to talk about using reason above emotion, and that's fine, that's a rational way to view the political world, but we also need to be more realistic and understand that people as a whole and a generalization are irrational, and emotional. Of course I'm also keeping in mind that the Republican party is nothing more than controlled opposition, because why not? All politicians want more power, and Democrats have found a way to get their idiot voters to vote for more government power at the expense of citizens rights. That means Republicans have more power too. So they just wink and smile and pretend like they're against the Democrats, and all they have to do to get votes is not be a Democrat. The grift that keeps on giving. And I don't blame the politicians for doing politician stuff, even through they're evil swamp monsters, I blame the Democrat voters that allow them to just be handed more power. Blaming the politicians is like blaming a lion when you wander around the African savanna unarmed, and you get eaten. Not the lions fault, she's just being a lion. You're the dumbass that walked into her territory.

@kz3cowboy leftists can't seem to comprehend that complex problems don't often have a perfect solution with no downside. Their world is black and white, if you don't agree with transing kids, you want them to die, just like if you don't want Medicare for All, you want grandma to die, if you don't want $15 min wage, you want people to be poor, if you don't support BLM, you're a racist, if you don't support antifa, you're a fascist. This is how they're so easily controlled and manipulated, when you convince yourself that everyone who disagrees with you is evil, you don't have to actually listen to anyone else's ideas.
1
-
@theprincipledtransformatio6152 I'm with you 100%, man society really sucks at moderation. I wish the general consensus about mental health could be somewhere more in the middle, but it seems like the near entirety of the left has an enabling attitude towards it, like having a disorder is just a quirk, and that it should be celebrated and nobody should ever feel bad about anything. But that's too soft, sometimes people should feel bad about things, and as harsh as that sounds in the immediate, it's actually better for the long haul. There's nothing wrong with encouraging people to be better. But I also see a lot of people on the right who are too dismissive of mental health, like "just buck up, bucko, stop being crazy". Which obviously it's not that easy, in some cases it's not even possible. Honestly I think the most meaningful social change to move forward would be to stop viewing mental health as something separate from physical health, because it's not, your brain is part of your physical body. If something is wrong with your back, or your kidneys, or anything else, you go to a doctor and seek treatment. There's no social stigma around that either, and we should treat mental health the same. We don't deny it or pretend like everything is fine, but we don't stigmatize it and treat people like they're broken or defective, and should be ashamed.
1
-
@theprincipledtransformatio6152 yea the modern political climate is geared towards one upmanship, meaning every article has to be more sensational than the last, or nobody cares. It's a destructive and not a sustainable system. You just can't write a political piece about something being kinda sorta bad, or maybe possibly a good thing, every story has to be the end of the world or the greatest thing ever. And you're right about the political diversity of trans people and LGBT as a whole too, I've met plenty of gay people who are more conservative than me. And the entire idea that Christians hate LGBT people is bogus too, sure, there are some super old school Evangelical types that think it's the worst sin there is, but generally speaking, Christians don't hate gay people, they just don't approve of them being gay. And that's fine, I don't agree, because I genuinely don't care if people are gay, you can love whenever you want to love, as long as it's a consenting adult human. But nearly all the Christians I know have a "love the sinner, hate the sin" attitude, they don't approve of people with drug addiction either, but they're also compassionate towards them and don't come from a place of hate.
1
-
@theprincipledtransformatio6152 oh I think mainstream media has a tremendous impact, but we also shouldn't understate the impact of social media and public school, along with numerous other institutions. The left has a complete stronghold on powerful institutions, and the right isn't without blame in all of this, both the political class on the right and the general populous. The right has been too married to principles ideals, we've been trying to play a respectful and sportsmanlike game against a team that doesn't give a shit about respect and sportsmanship, they break every rule and they're proud of it, and we just let them because we would rather be principles losers than get our hands dirty to get a win. And I hate that too, I wish it didn't have to be this way, but the left set the precedent. And conservative messaging needs to be better too, we need to stop indulging the left's insanity and desperately pleading about how not racist we are, who gives a shit what crazy people think? They're gonna think you're racist no matter what, just point and laugh at them like the clowns they are. Don't even bother defending yourself against outrageous claims, the right needs to adopt a more neutral stance towards LGBT, like hey, we don't really give a shit if you're gay or not, we just want all Americans to have a better quality of life. And seriously, the left is bat shit insane, you can't possibly believe the nonsense they're selling, can you?

I agree with Matt Walsh' idea about just boycotting Bud Light, claim one scalp and move on. And if you want to go big and boycott all Anheuser products, great, do that, but for us to really get steam on this movement, we have to concentrate our efforts. If someone doesn't like wokeness, but they also don't care that much, and you show them a list of 40 woke companies they should boycott, they're more likely to say no thanks, that's too hard. But if you just say boycott Bud Light, so Anheuser can see a dramatic drop in sales, they're much more likely to say ok, that's a small sacrifice to take a big step, I'm in.

@ch4rlz398 oh of course they don't care, morality is a silly and useless characteristic to leftists. All they care about is their side winning, because they think there's some utopian future for them. I do think it's worth noting that there's a more black pilled explanation, hypothetically, that the allegations against Gaetz really are true, but he's protected because they're all one in the same, R or D, the elite protect their own. But that's doubtful to me, since he has no problems calling out the kinds of things they typically protect each other from. Same with Trump. And, if that is true, that 100% of them are all in on it together, and this is all just political theater for us plebs, then there's really nothing we can do about it anyway because globalism has already won. So it's kinda pointless to speculate about that possibility.

@discussioncorner I mean, it would be more cool if he didn't use it to kill a bunch of people. Lol. But yea, I get what you mean. It's pretty crazy how leftists live in this fictional universe where we can just make guns illegal and nobody would have guns. They don't seem to understand that people make guns, and yea I'm sure it's mostly done by machines these days, but people make and operate the machines that make guns. My point is if we were to just completely abolish all firearms in the country, now you got a guy that's worked at an arms factory and is a few years from retirement, really knows his shit, and now you've forced him into early retirement. He's pissed, especially at the people who took his job, he's got the knowhow to make guns from scratch, just needs the materials, the people who used to sell the materials are also pissed, because they're in the same boat as him. You've just created the biggest emerging black market in the world.

@sarahalderman3126 pretty much all politicians are horrible people, the closest you'll come to finding an exception is some small time politician on a local level, if even that. Even the vast majority of them probably have skeletons in their closet. You don't get to the top being decent and honest, imagine trying to run a campaign saying "well I'll do what I can but we probably can't lower taxes, we probably can't really offer you much of anything, but maybe if we're lucky it won't get worse!" While the other guy is running on free healthcare, free college, free free free blah blah blah ending racism ending homelessness, blah blah blah, all the other empty promises politicians always make. That's the game. People want to be lied to. Not all people, obviously, but in an election, which is literally a popularity contest, the person making the biggest promises wins. Realism and honesty loses.

@IPAsAndSunshine democrat voters are the problem with everything. This is what you get when people just vote for whoever promises the most free shit, consistently, for a century. So don't give me that "both sides" bullshit, no, it's the left, it's always been the left. Politicians are just being politicians, they take whatever amount of power we give them, and weak people have voted for democrats thinking they could have an easy life without having to work for anything, and now we're all screwed because of it. You can have a free life, or you can have an easy life. You can't have both. And if you try to have both, you'll end up with neither, and you all dragged us down with you because you want everything and you're not willing to sacrifice anything. I have zero sympathy for your enlightened centrist bullshit.

@ChaddeusThaddeus I mean, no joke, there's literally like a 2 minute scene with her explaining that she's a he now, and nobody seems to really care, and they just move on🤣 it's briefly mentioned maybe 3 or 4 times for the rest of the series, and has absolutely zero impact on the story or any of the events. It's hilarious. I really think the writers were just like so that crazy chick dude chick, whatever the hell it is, is insisting we make her a dude now. So whatever. We don't want a lawsuit. But he she he it she is a psychotic narcissist, so it doesn't really matter if we give a shit, we can even kinda low key make fun of him her he shim, they won't even notice🤣🤣🤣
