You know, the last few years has gotten me rethinking a lot of things in history. Like what if Nero was actually pretty badass? We don't know. Maybe he just wanted to make Rome great again, and the establishment hated him for it because they were getting fat and rich at the expense of the people. So they launched an ancient fake news campaign. All we really have to go off of is the word of other people writing from the word of others, and so on and so on. It wouldn't have been that hard at all to suppress anyone saying otherwise and make sure only the anti-Nero narrative saw the light of day. We're seeing that happen in real time, in a world that's interconnected to a degree far higher than ever before, when all the information in the world is available in the palm of your hand.

@MyRoosterWisdom but you don't know that, none of us do. That's my point. Everything we think we know about political history is questionable, unless you were actually there at the time, there's no telling what actually happened. We only know what was written about by people who were given the opportunity to write about it, which would have been far easier to manipulate back then than it is today. And we still have people believing completely separate and distinct realities today.

@Coccyx69 I can't help but feel like we're living in every dystopian Sci-Fi movie, but the boring part where everything collapses that they just flash back to later on in the movie when they're explaining why everything is shit.
