There's a quote from the movie 61*, where Mickey Mantle is talking to Roger Maris about how he's got to get better with the press, and he mentions when he got denied from the draft because his knee was messed up, and some reporter called him a draft dodger. He said he still gets boos from the crowd for that, even though it was never true. Convictions aren't the same as allegations, but when you're a public figure, it can still hurt your reputation and career, even if it's completely baseless.
