It depends. The looming threat of a swift caning should still exist, that would put a little fire under their ass to actually get shit done in a reasonable manner.

It's always been that way, it's just more clearly visible now that anyone with a phone can make political commentary. And liberals have always had the control, that's why the country has gone steadily and rapidly to the left since the advent of TV and other forms of mass media.

@wittmoneyman trying to agree and compromise is what gave the left so much power. I hate that it has to be that way, because I don't consider myself very tribal either, but that's the world we live in. The left doesn't care about the rules, they don't care about civility, they don't care about decorum, so anyone who does believe in any of those things is going to lose. The only "tribe" I consider myself part of politically is the tribe of truth and pragmatism, whatever side of the aisle that might put me on. And things have gone so crazy, truth and pragmatism is exclusive to what's considered right wing.
