@117Ender most dead things aren't full of Big Macs and Xanax.

@kevindavid7149 I actually feel like my IQ temporarily drops when I hear that drum beat. So I think it's a sort of chicken/egg situation, if you listen to that crap enough it permanently lowers your IQ, but if you purposefully listen to it in the first place, you probably weren't starting from a particularly high number.

@fieryblender7174 Texas can trade them Austin in exchange for some almonds and avocados.

@kevindavid7149 reason #396 why I listen to metal. They have actual drum beats, written and performed by real people, not a machine.

@strategery101 I like Tom MacDonald. That's pretty much my only exception as far as rap/hip hop goes, and it's not like I sit and listen to him all the time, I mostly just like his lyrics and respect his talent and drive. Still not my preferred style of music.

@strategery101 yea like I said, not my style, but at least he has genuine talent and writes original music about things he actually cares about, it's not just slurs and empty nonsense about hoes and shooting people.

This is actually pretty consistent with California stuff.

@ethanreed5815 and that's completely different from using essentially the exact same generic tat tat tat beat throughout the entire song. I love to zing country fans by pointing out that the vocalist is really the only thing anyone cares about, you never hear anyone talk about how much they like the drummer or guitar player in a country group, if their guitar player gets sick or has to miss tour dates for some reason, it's fine, they can just find some local at a bar who can play guitar. If Lamb of God's guitar player has to miss a tour, they're screwed, there's probably nobody that can play guitar exactly like him, the best they could hope for is to get another well known guitarist from another popular metal group and just be like hey, he's pretty cool too.

@Run3Po420 again, I'm not talking about the fact that they use machines, I'm referring to that annoying, generic beat that pretty much all popular rap and hip hop uses.

@ethanreed5815 and I've never been a country fan in any capacity, but the old stuff sure beats the hell out of all the prepackaged, generic crap that comes out now. In my mind there's 2 modern country artists, female singer and male singer. That's basically what it is now.

@ethanreed5815 the timing of this conversation is hilarious, because the sat radio at my work has been on todays top country for the last week or so, it was driving me insane. And just a few hours ago they changed it to the 90s country station, and yes, I realize 90s probably isn't what you meant by "old" country, but it was still a huuuuuuge improvement over the other crap. That was kind of the beginning of the downfall, a lot of 90s country was starting to merge together as a unistyle, but there were still some artists back then who actually had their own sound and style.

@ethanreed5815 there's very little mainstream in metal, and probably never will be. It's just not a style that the mainstream audience will ever embrace, with some exceptions like Metallica and System of a Down, among some others. But you're probably not gonna get rich in a heavy metal band. At least not stupid rich like you can in pop or country or hip hop. That's my theory as to why it's remained pure, most artists are in it for the music, not the money.
2
@ethanreed5815 oh I'm sure the members of Lamb of God or All That Remains aren't struggling, the big metal bands, I'm not trying to say they're poor and destitute. I'm only saying it's not the music genre you're probably gonna shoot for if your goal is to be a rich and famous megastar. Maybe fame is what I meant more so than money.
