They're not defending her, they're defending themselves.

@devildogkogg8353 I think Matt's criticism is that he thinks she's full of shit. And I agree. She's talking about how great her life is, but it really seems like a cry for help, like she's telling the world how miserable she is but hiding behind saying everything is fine.

@Butterflyyyxoxo when it becomes a social epidemic, it effects all of us. I agree with you in part, I don't really care if an individual person doesn't want kids. But this attitude is being artificially pushed on young people, and there are more and more people every year who are convinced all they need is money and stuff, and that family is unimportant.

They're materialists. And all of them hate their life. They think they would be happy if they just had a little more money, or a little more stuff, but it's never enough, because what they're really lacking is a purpose. That's why they're always posturing about how great their life is, it's just deflection. They think because people who have kids are often stressed, and don't get to do fun things all the time, that they're unhappy. But true happiness comes from having purpose. Even if being a parent has it's really, really shitty moments, it's all worth it in the long run, it's much more valuable than money and possessions.

It went viral because it's hilarious, the difference between what she says and her tone and demeanor when she says it is pure comic gold. It's like the scene from Anchorman 2, where the guy walks in on Ron trying to hang himself, and he starts explaining that he was trying to hang himself with an upward inflection like he's lying😂

If someone doesn't want kids, then they probably shouldn't have kids. On an individual level, I understand and respect that. But on a societal level, we have to ask ourselves why so many people don't want kids, why so many adults are single, and why so many adults still live at home. We're a society suffering from wide scale arrested development, and the tangible harm is clearly visible.

The problem is that there are so many people who don't want kids, and so much social pressure artificially put towards that attitude. On an individual level, if someone doesn't want kids, I respect that and I think they probably shouldn't have kids. But on a societal level, we need to be asking ourselves what went wrong, where we have so many people like that. Most people should want kids. The single and loving it people should be the minority.
