At the very least we need to think of some kind of age restrictions for the internet. People act like it's some Herculean task that can never be achieved, which is completely insane, we restrict the sale of tobacco and alcohol by age, and all sorts of other things, of course underage people still find a way to get it, but the restrictions still prevent a great deal of underage use. There's no reason the internet should be different.

When I was a kid, I had this idea that authoritarian nations siezed power by force, marching around the streets and pushing people into submission. The truth is actually more depressing. People willingly submit to authoritarianism, either because they're too stupid to know what's happening, or because they're so stupid they think the authoritarian regime is on their side.
