I'm a little ashamed to admit Green Day was my first favorite band. I was like 11 years old, I think I get a pass. And to be fair, that did eventually open the door for me to discover other punk bands that don't suck. Same as Limp Bizkit was my gateway band to metal bands that don't suck.

@orionhan2431 wasn't everyone an anarchist at some point growing up? Difference is some of us grew up, others became leftists.

@Bob Terwilliger but Green Day is punk adjacent enough that if you're a teenager listening to them, you would probably like NOFX or Rancid too, and actually like them more (which is exactly what happened with me), and likewise if you liked Limp Bizkit, you would likely also like Lamb of God or Slipknot. And don't play that music genre gatekeeper crap, it's annoying and pretentious.

@peterbelanger4094 I was big into punk and ska as a teenager, slowly shifted more into metal. Now about 95% of what I listen to is metal, but I still love some punk bands, like Rancid, Goldfinger, and NOFX, I don't think I'll ever grow out of that. But yea, I get what you mean, when I hear most of it now I'm like yea ok that's pretty decent music but just not my thing anymore.

No, it's marketing.

@S-K69 same, and they only admit what it actually means when they're pressed, which is immediately followed by a bunch of hyperbole about how red states are going to turn into the Handmaid's Tale IRL.

@Bob Terwilliger and not to mention Green Day definitely got watered down and turned into more of a pop band, but Insomniac and Dookie are definitely punk rock albums, you may not like it, you may think it's crappy punk rock, but that doesn't mean it's something else just because you don't like it.

That's kind of like the plot of a sci-fi/comedy/thriller I thought of in my head, all of the leftists leave America and within a few months America is great again, nearly every problem the left always complained about just kinda vanishes in record time. And all the countries they fled to devolve into leftist shitholes. And then they want to come back. Except we already built a big, beautiful wall.
