I'm an atheist, but this is a perfect example of why I don't ever push it on anyone or try to convince religious people they're wrong. Some people can't handle it and latch onto a cult to fill the void of religion.

@Mythoughtsoutlouder yea that may be true. I wasn't raised in a religious family but I became a Christian when I was about 13, from going with a friend. So I guess my voluntary entry and exit into religion gave me a better perspective of these things. I saw the left kinda turning into a cult years ago, now they're a full blown cult.

@DigitalPand3mic that's not true at all, if I say the Yankees are going to win the world series, and you say the Dodgers, and a third guy says I don't know, we'll just wait and see, that 3rd person is not making an affirmative claim in any direction. He's saying he doesn't know. That's what atheism is. It's not faith in something else, it's skepticism.

@thelopper43 doesn't that kind of water down the meaning of the word "religion" though? A religion is a specific set of principles and spiritual beliefs. And it's not a religion unless a group of people all believe the same set of principles, and you're not a part of that religion unless you believe those same sets of principles.

@kaisokusekkendou1498 most atheists are agnostic, and most theists are gnostic. Saying "I don't think God exists" is agnostic atheist, saying "there is no god" is gnostic atheist.

@ChallengeIdeas a lot of people consider Buddhism to be a philosophy rather than a religion, for that reason specifically.
