  1. Same here, my initial reaction was that you ultimately can't save someone from themselves. And I still believe that to be true, but we definitely don't want to normalize this and make it state sanctioned. That doesn't send a very good message to people who have considered it but decided not to because of various reasons. Saying "this is a completely normal, rational thought, and we'll even have a doctor help you!" Is not the thing people in that situation need to hear.

  2.  @michaelr5606  we euthanize pets because they can't survive without us, their entire life is artificial because we bred them to be dependent on us, all of their survival skills and basic instincts have been bred out to the best of our ability. It's interesting you would use this comparison, because euthanasia is something you do as a mercy towards someone who is dependent on you or someone else for survival. That tells you a lot about where these advocates view themselves, and their subjects.

  3.  @michaelr5606  it's interesting you brought up pets though, because keep that in mind, the people pushing this are the same people who are trying to tell us what we can eat, they're the people who were telling us when we're allowed to leave the house and why, they're the ones telling us they should be in charge of our health care, they're telling us what we're allowed to read, what we're allowed to listen to, what we're allowed to say and when we're allowed to say it. We're pets to them. And the more people go along with shit like this, the more we really will become their pets, until they're quite literally in charge of when we're allowed to be alive, and for how long.

There's an old movie called The Anarchist Cookbook, it's about a group of young dumbass anarchists, and one of the characters is this older guy and his wife that the kids all hang out with, because they're irresponsible hippies that let the kids do whatever they want. And the guy is constantly going on about how great Sweden is, and how much better Sweden is than America. That movie was more prophetic than it realized, that's basically every leftist currently in the US. Their entire ideology is "America bad, other place better."
