@spencev1765 everyone knows women joined the workforce during the war, that's not some kind of secret knowledge. But you're completely wrong about that being connected to today's attitudes towards women working, the "you can be a girl boss and have it all" rhetoric started with the feminist movement, in the 60s. Women went to work during the war out of necessity, now and since the 60s they've been working because of ideology.

@spencev1765 but your point is incorrect, the movement of women working during the war was just a temporary measure. After the war, and until the feminist movement of the 60s, most women were not working.

@rjay7019 a big part of why so many people can't afford a house on one salary is because of women in the workforce. It's basic math, the workforce increased by well over 50%, and the amount of consumers stayed the same. So obviously average wages are going to go down. In the 60s, a man working a blue collar job like at a gas station or supermarket could afford to support a family. He wouldn't be rich, but he would be comfortable. These days jobs like that will barely pay enough to live by yourself, with no dependents. There's no way in hell you can support a wife and kids on a base salary like that.

@Cycstorm it's called capitalism, little buddy. It's not up to you to decide what a "real job" is, it's up to the market. If people are willing to pay for it, it's a real job.

You act like it's no work at all for a huge payday, if that were true every YouTuber would be making as much money as Tim. Obviously he's doing something better than most people do it. Maybe you don't think he's doing anything worthwhile, but your opinion doesn't mean shit compared to a million people who like his content. And that's not even the point of people saying "lazy jobs", these are people just crying about how they should make more money for doing nothing. Tim isn't whining about that, he's making money, you're whining about how he shouldn't be making as much money.

I'm old enough to remember when socialists still pretended like they weren't just lazy and entitled children, and claimed they wanted to "make the world a better place". At least they're being more honest now and just flat out saying they want more money for doing less.
