There's a whole lot of people that deny this all together or make excuses for why it was actually someone else's fault, or some other form of revisionist history. And these are the same people who think everyone who disagrees with them is a fascist, even though there's practically nobody who's openly in support of fascism, or even sympathetic towards fascist ideology.
51
@zachaliles because people are probably talking about naughty things the YouTube overlords don't want us talking about.
45
They'll just say "that wasn't real communism", or "it was actually colonist capitalism that made them fail".
44
And when you point out that the communists were also bad, they accuse you of defending Nazis. As though saying you don't like to eat cat shit is the same as saying you like to eat dog shit.
43
And they don't seem to understand that redistributing wealth and goods means someone has to be in charge of the piggy bank, and it isn't going to be you.
32
@MaliVal because they just don't report any deaths that are "inconvenient".
31
@y0sarian allowing people to keep what they earn is not greed, demanding someone else's wealth and resources because they have more than you is greed.
28
Everyone believes at least one conspiracy theory. Even if you don't believe any of them, then you believe the most insane and outlandish conspiracy theory of all - that there's no such thing as conspiracies.
27
@calexander7495 yep, very true, I've been on some far left channels where they feel more comfortable saying the quiet part out loud, bc the audience is nearly exclusively far left. It's pretty vile, they'll say stuff like yea it's about time the US started rounding up conservatives. And I've recognized the same usernames on more moderate left channels singing a completely different tune, trying to just downplay it like it wasn't that bad or denying it happened all together.
25
I mean, that even exists outside of humans in a way. All animals have to eat, and something has to die for them to eat. That's kind of just the way it goes.
24
Everyone is soft on crime until they're the victim of a crime.
24
@toddlerj102 sure they do, it just may not be easily accessible. That's not the same as an actual famine, where there's no food. It's gone. It's not available at all. It's not there.
21
While simultaneously accusing everyone else of "believing propaganda".
20
Of course, everyone knows the internet is where people come to have intelligent, respectful, civilized conversations🤣
20
You can't really group all conspiracy theories together and check "yes to all" or "no to all", or at least not while still being honest and intelligent about it. You may believe in bigfoot but not the Loch Ness monster, those are 2 completely different things, or maybe you believe both, or maybe you believe neither.
15
Communists distorting the truth? Well I never....
14
@_ginock_ it's also why gangs in the US initiate new members by having them hit a member from a rival gang, they won't be tried as harshly if they're underage.
14
@y0sarian we have an equal right to make our own choices, and that includes bad choices. I don't owe you anything because I made better choices than you and I have a better life than you, just like someone who made better choices than me doesn't owe me anything.
13
I was having a tooth removed when I was a kid, with local anesthesia, and the dumbass dentist started tugging at the wrong tooth. It was horrific, I felt everything. Luckily I started yelling as best I could with a hand in my mouth, and she stopped. But yea, that really sucked.
13
@ErebosGR schools aren't parents, parents are parents. They're supposed to teach you about things that parents may not have the professional experience for, values and morality starts at home. Your attitude is unironically why so many young people are lost and feeling hopeless, you can't outsource parenting.
13
@y0sarian capitalism has brought more people out of poverty than any other system in history. Just because it's hard doesn't mean it's impossible, and just because you can't succeed doesn't mean nobody can. Plenty of people do.
12
Right, you don't want to talk about it, so you made a comment that could have no possible motivation other than getting people to talk about it.
11
@stefanschleps8758 "the most important thing we learn from history, is that we don't learn from history" that's a quote this crazy hippie history professor I had in college used to always say. I went to college back when they actually taught stuff other than why you should hate yourself and your country, and what kind of make believe genders you can be.
10
@craigmoffitt2374 I bet you don't understand why people call you a groomer.
10
@cripplious I can ask mine if you like. He seems pretty servile. But that might just be because he's a little orange bitch, I'm not sure if his whole race is like that.
9
I really appreciate how Simon has a "facts first" approach, and doesn't jump to one side or the other when discussing war and geopolitical issues. It's rarely as simple as their being "good guys" and "bad guys", and any approach in that way is going to lead to information being distorted or omitted.
9
@Talisguy anarcho-communism is such a joke, how does that even work? "Everyone pays their fair share!" Make me. "Fair point!" 🤣🤣🤣
9
Conspiracy theorists have a higher batting average than the authoritative sources.
8
@badluck5647 he's not wrong, slavery in one form or another has existed for a much greater amount of time than it hasn't. And the only places it still exists are in Africa and Asia. This isn't a justification of American or European slavery, it's all wrong, it's all always been wrong, but it's just the truth, if the truth doesn't go alongside your worldview very well, then the problem is your worldview.
8
@badluck5647 why is it worse if it's racial? And as far as "breeding", that's a standard part of slavery too. It wasn't unique to the Atlantic trade in the Americas. Nobody is trying to downplay anything, you're just putting words in people's mouths to suit your narrative. I'm just being real about it. Again, if the truth doesn't fit with your worldview, then the problem is your worldview. Try reality, you might like it. Even if you don't, reality doesn't care, it exists whether you believe in it or not.
8
Pretty easy to claim crime is down when you just stop reporting and prosecuting.
8
Uh oh. All the black fist icons aren't gonna like you for this one, Simon.
8
@angusorvid8840 definitely true. But people eating a ridiculously unhealthy diet is closer to the opposite of famine than it is to famine. We have a surplus of junk food.
8
@CreepingEternityBand it's freaking weird how "anti-vaxxer" has become so bastardized, only 2 years ago that meant someone that was.... You know. Against vaccines. Now it means anyone who doesn't blindly get behind sweeping vaccine mandates. It's crazy. Pretending like anyone who's remotely skeptical of the covid vaccine is "antivaxx" is as dishonest as saying that someone who doesn't eat beef but eats all other meat is a vegetarian.
8
That would be quite a censorship minefield to navigate though. Context doesn't matter to the algorithm.
7
@scarlet_phonavis6734 I thought the "untrained pilots" thing was kind of debunked though, once a plane is already up and in the air it doesn't take a genius to fly it into a building. I've seen simulations where people who have never flown before are able to train on simulations for a brief amount of time and carry out the same maneuvers. Everything else you said is valid though.
7
@4ryan42 you don't have to be an adult to pull a trigger, and the families of their victims are still mourning the same, regardless of how old their victimizer was.
7
@DevinJHiggins who said criminals have it easy? It isn't supposed to be easy.
7
@TheRatsintheWalls imagine going to a college campus and saying the 2 phrases, "Nazis are bad" and "communists are bad", and the contrast in reactions. Any college campus, randomly, anywhere in the US. The first would be met nearly unanimously with "yep, Nazis are bad. Nazis definitely bad." The latter would be met with a bunch of wannabe intellectuals starting an argument over what "real communism" is and how it's never been tried, and that communism is actually good in theory. That's a problem. And if you don't think that's a problem, you're part of the problem.

I was at McDonald's the other day and they couldn't take my order because the computers were down. I told them that cheeseburgers and fries predate the internet by quite some time, the girl at the counter was baffled, she had no idea what I was talking about🤣
6
@duncanbrock7303 nah man, shows like Bones and CSI have taught us that we'll leave a shoe print or a fingernail or some shit like that. And a quirky and overconfident, but brilliant young detective will catch us.
6
@garretth8224 that's not that many people, there have been numerous government conspiracies that involved far more people "in the know" that have been proven to be true. And not everyone involved even necessarily has to know they're involved in something shady, at least not at the time. Most of the time they don't.
6
@karlbrothers2153imagine defending communism.
6
@GlyphidGuard what do you think life was like before colonialism? Everyone was a slave in one way or another. A small handful of royalty enslaved their entire nation, either directly or indirectly through serfdom. 100% of colonized nations are in a better situation now than their counterparts that weren't colonized, or had a more brief period of occupation. I know it's not pretty, I know it's not the most ideal circumstances, but colonization was a net gain for the world, objectively.
6
@4BillC actions have consequences.
5
@Tadaaaam12678 nobody is saying that it should happen, or that it's ok, they're saying that bad people do bad things, and at a certain level you can't stop it. That's the entire reason prisons exist, and are necessary. The world isn't all sunshine and bunny rabbits, and putting your fingers in your ears and pretending everyone who disagrees with you is a bad person won't change that.
5
A lot of the victims of their crimes don't have any rights at all, because they're dead.
5
@Charles-js3ri I can copy and paste a definition from Google if you really want, but you could do that yourself. The issue is that communism as it's defined by academics is not what communism actually is in the real world. We have numerous examples of this from the past. And that's not a bug, it's a feature.

"tHaT wASN't reEL cOmMyOuNiZiM!!"

It's like calling someone a vegan because they don't like fish.
