Everyone is soft on crime until they're the victim of a crime.

@_ginock_ it's also why gangs in the US initiate new members by having them hit a member from a rival gang, they won't be tried as harshly if they're underage.
14
@ErebosGR schools aren't parents, parents are parents. They're supposed to teach you about things that parents may not have the professional experience for, values and morality starts at home. Your attitude is unironically why so many young people are lost and feeling hopeless, you can't outsource parenting.
13
Pretty easy to claim crime is down when you just stop reporting and prosecuting.
8
@4ryan42 you don't have to be an adult to pull a trigger, and the families of their victims are still mourning the same, regardless of how old their victimizer was.
7
@DevinJHiggins who said criminals have it easy? It isn't supposed to be easy.
7
@4BillC actions have consequences.

@Tadaaaam12678 nobody is saying that it should happen, or that it's ok, they're saying that bad people do bad things, and at a certain level you can't stop it. That's the entire reason prisons exist, and are necessary. The world isn't all sunshine and bunny rabbits, and putting your fingers in your ears and pretending everyone who disagrees with you is a bad person won't change that.
5
A lot of the victims of their crimes don't have any rights at all, because they're dead.
5
@sage1312 we would go off of actually reporting crime accurately, and prosecuting appropriately?
3
@jonym.310 it's almost like prisoners are in prison for a reason.
3
@Tadaaaam12678 we do, that's what the juvenile system is for. And they typically segregate juvenile hall by age, the inmates closer to adult are kept with other inmates of similar age, and the younger inmates are kept with each other. Nobody is saying it's perfect, but you should probably actually learn at least the first few things about what you're complaining about before you complain about it.
3
@sage1312 keep up that condescending attitude, and keep wondering why people are rejecting your ideology.
3
@sage1312 so what's your point? Do you think we should just let killers walk free because they're under 18? What's your solution?
3
@jacobrzeszewski6527 of course it isn't, that's why it isn't tried the same. Most juveniles that commit crimes don't serve any time at all, do you think there are 12 year olds being locked up for years for shoplifting? They usually just get community service and probation for non violent crimes.
3
But what do we do if the penalty for their crime exceeds the time that they'll be an adult? Like a 17 year old convicted for murder, do we just put them in juvey until they turn 18 and then let them free? That's where it gets complicated.
3
@visualartsbyjr2464 they don't typically go to juvey for lesser crimes.
2
@sage1312 and they usually get a slap on the wrist unless it's a violent crime. And people aren't stupid just because they have different views than you, this unearned sense of moral and intellectual superiority is why Republicans swept all branches in the election, and you still don't get it.
2
@kaiseramadeus233 more like "how about we encourage family units, and stop encouraging crime".
2
@kaiseramadeus233 considering we break the previous record for drug overdoses almost every year, you can make the argument that we didn't fight hard enough. And an even better argument for stronger border security.
2
Where the hell did this pro criminal attitude come from? It's pathological. I can understand tough on crime vs soft on crime, regardless of where you align, but pretending like every criminal is just a poor good boy that was victimized by the system is completely insane, it's a luxury belief that can only be held by someone that's never faced true hardship.
2
@shleyLX when did I ever say that? Try again when you can come up with an honest response.
2
@Boredblacksheep the US offers all of those things.
2
@alextv293 wait until Europe has the same demographic changes as the US, which is already underway as we speak.
1
@sage1312 I really can't put it in simpler terms.
1
@kaseyboles30 are you really pretending like criminal justice agencies don't have an incentive to underreport their crime rates? You all claim to hate authority, but you're salivating to lick the boot when you think it helps your political cult.
1
@kaseyboles30 it's not a conspiracy theory, many states like NY and California have been caught washing their numbers in recent years. And this is nothing new, liberal shit holes have been doing it for decades.
1
@kaseyboles30 ah, so multiple agencies with the same agenda investigated each other and found no wrongdoing. Nothing fishy there.
1
@iAintNeverPullinOut it always circles back around to fatherless homes.
1
@epicbruhmoment6985 so what if the person who told you it was bad info was giving you bad info? You see the problem here?
1
@jacobrzeszewski6527 the only time a juvenile would actually serve time for a non violent theft is if they're a repeat offender. And just drop it with the race nonsense, nobody actually believes that anymore, not even you. You're just being dishonest.
1
@curtisgetchel2333 yea but the alternative is actually thinking critically and considering opinions you don't agree with. Who wants to do that? It's so much easier to just blame racism and pretend like everyone who disagrees with you is a racist.
1
@kaiseramadeus233 or maybe just stop with the self destructive attitude that criminals are the good guys, stop with the glamorization of single mothers, and start actually encouraging moral values. But of course that would take work and personal responsibility, 2 things progressives are severely allergic to.
1
@kaiseramadeus233 definitely not individual responsibility, anything but that. That might require effort.
1
@kaiseramadeus233 there are other ways to solve problems than giving the government more money. But I wouldn't expect a socialist to understand that.
1
@Philip220 I'm surprised yt allowed you to post that. Maybe the punctuation helped you slip under the algorithm. Stop with those hate statistics!🤣
1
@Philip220 lmao, I was being sarcastic bud, I thought the laughy face would indicate that.
1
@Philip220 well that's fair. And it's pretty difficult to tell sarcasm, since those people are so ridiculous they actually believe things that are more ridiculous than you or me could even imagine.
1
@shleyLX and if there are r@pists in juvenile detention, then they should definitely be in detention. It's hilarious how you accidentally proved your own point to be stupid.
1
@_ginock_ which is also what drives gang violence, because they recruit members when they're kids or teens, typically from broken homes, looking for a family unit. They've already committed a murder before they're 18, they have nowhere else to go but back to the gang. I don't have all the answers, but I know all these liberal policies of being soft on crime aren't helping.
1
@captainCrunchChris what makes you sure he's not guilty?
