My main problem is the normalization, I don't think its a good idea to convey the message to people who are already mentally unwell that just ended it is a valid and acceptable option. Obviously if someone really wants to do that, there's ultimately not much anyone can do about that, and if someone is terminally ill thats a completely different scenario. But what if someone is just going through a rough time mentally? A lot of people have gone through that and come out of the other side eventually. I don't like the idea of encouraging them when they're at their lowest.

@RexLongest if it were just being suggested for people who are terminally ill, there would be no controversy. It's being suggested for people with mental illnesses and a whole host of other non life threatening disorders, Canada has even proposed bills to offer MAID to the homeless.

They could already set their affairs in order if they wanted to, and just because we legalize MAID wouldn't stop people from doing it the painfully traumatic way. For a lot of people, that's the point, they want to hurt all the people close to them in the process. Allowing it legally will not effect that at all.

@gamma-rayburst4611 apparently a lot of people need to hear it. There's an epidemic of people blaming all of their life's problems on someone else. Even if something really is someone else's fault, it's not going to do you any good to point the finger and demand that someone else fix it. You have to fix your own life.
