No it's a right and left issue. Nearly 100% of the right is opposed to censorship, support for this is coming entirely from the left. Not everyone on the left, but everyone who supports it is on the left.

Emphasis on "small", the fact that something like this was even bounced around as an idea, let alone actually got off the ground (barely) is sure a scary sign of things to come. We've strayed so far from what used to be considered universal American values, freedom of speech isn't supposed to be a political wedge issue.

@Bronson anyone who needs a third party to tell them what to believe is already a lost cause, they're going to believe BS whether it's state sponsored BS manufactured by the ministry of truth, or it's some random weirdo on the internet. As for the rest of us, we deserve the right to a free exchange of ideas, and we'll decide what we think is true. And we'll be wrong sometimes. But that's better than always being wrong, because we've surrendered our agency as an individual to the state.

Yea the difference is science is testable, where people can perform experiments on their own to see it for themselves. Political news is more subjective than that, if you're not on the ground seeing things first hand, you have to take someone else's word for it. So putting that into the hands of a state sponsored source is swinging the door wide open for corruption.

They just disagreed with particular wars because it didn't fit their narrative, they only were against corporations because they wanted more wealth for themselves, and they pretended to be for freedom because they didn't like that conservatives had more cultural power. You see what they become when they have cultural power. Let go of the fairy tale that the left were ever the good guys. They never were, at any stage in history, in any civilization, and they never will be. Leftism is, always was, and always will be the primary thing causing conflict and holding humanity back.

@h..8083 condemn them? I never said the right was always correct about everything. Politics sucks. But the primary reason the political class on the right sucks so much is because they don't have to not suck, all they have to do is not be the left. That's the secondary effect of the left going so far off the deep end, there's zero accountability left for politicians on the right. Don't blame politicians for being politicians, blame the populous on the left for making that possible by just voting for whoever promises the most free stuff, for several generations.

@waltergrace565 and with very little variance, the people who think we do need some kind of government authority to tell us what's true are also the same people who believe the most nonsense, completely fabricated narratives from MSM that even MSM has had to quietly admit was complete nonsense, but they still believe it even to this day.

Leftists believe every mainstream media hoax, on surveys moderates and conservatives are consistently more well informed about political topics than leftists. Leftists believe insane nonsense, like thousands of unarmed black people being killed by police per year (it's more like 10), that 50% of covid patients need hospital care (it's more like 1%), etc etc etc. So the idea of leftists criticizing other people for believing and repeating lies is the most laughable thing imaginable.
