Imagine what would happen if you presented this real estate case in NY to legal scholars and finance experts, but redacted all the names. 100% of them would laugh and say it's ridiculous, and would never stand in court. Hochul said herself that businesses don't need to worry, because they're only doing this because it's Trump. Consider those things and try to argue that this is anything other than political persecution.

@John-gi6yh either that or they believe the bias is "justified". They aren't smart enough to understand that if it was justified, then you wouldn't need bias, you could just present the facts.

@memyselfandi8544 and I would have the exact same position if a Democrat was being targeted in this way. We have to be principled in these matters, because it never goes in one direction for very long. It starts by going in one direction, when one side of politics loses all principles, but that side will eventually be targeted too, because they set the precedent for political persecution.

@Kevo6492 there is no fraud in this case, it's just the real estate owner and the bank coming to different conclusions about the value of a property. It's completely normal, this is just how the business world works. There was no wrong doing whatsoever, it's just a garden variety tax negotiation.

@dustinsindledecker154 it's standard business, there is no crime here at all. It's like if you're trying to sell a car for $10k, and I say I'll give you $7k. You would probably say nah, I can get more. Perfectly reasonable, right? And neither of us did anything wrong. We'll either meet somewhere in the middle, or we just won't come to a deal. Simple as. Nobody is harmed, and nobody did anything wrong, I have the right to ask for a lower price, and you have the right to ask for a higher price. And anyone who doesn't try to negotiate this way, whether as a buyer or a seller, just isn't doing it right.

@dustinsindledecker154 it's really not a crime though. Everyone negotiates the price of real estate, on both sides. If this is a crime, then everyone that's ever bought or sold a house is a criminal.

@dustinsindledecker154 for God's sake, yes, of course it would be ok if you did it, because it's ok if anyone does it, because it's not illegal. Why is this hard for you to understand? It's not even unethical in any way, people have the right to get try to get the best deal they can. The alternative would be banks just getting to unilaterally determine how much properties are worth, is that what you want?

@John-gi6yh these people are genuinely not well. Their brains have been completely consumed by TDS. The media could tell them Trump was caught drinking water, and they would be convinced that drinking water is illegal.

He thinks both are cases of being targeted for being a political rival, and he's correct. Obviously the case with Navalny was much more severe, but he isn't comparing the severity, he's comparing the principle, which is identical. The only reason political enemies aren't treated that harshly in the US right now is because the left doesn't have enough power.
