I worked fast food through my teens and early 20s, and yea, some of those people should feel lucky to be making minimum wage as it stands. Not everyone, obviously there's some good, hard working people there, but being management was frustrating as hell, it's hard enough having to deal with insane customers, but then you have to babysit irresponsible jackasses that just want to do as little as possible and get paid for it.

Anyone can work at fast food though. That's why the pay isn't good. The fewer people can perform the same tasks as you, the more valuable your labor is. This is very basic shit. Fast food restaurants don't have to pay you a lot because they can replace you with literally any person they pluck off the streets at random.

@lapinchechismosa I didn't say anyone can be good at it, but anyone can do it. At least the vast, vast majority of people, if you're so low skill you can't work fast food, then you probably can't work anywhere.

@WhtMike2006 the overwhelming majority of Americans could survive on a lot less than what they have. We're an extremely over indulgent society, myself included. But I work for my money and I'm not crying about how the government should force my employer to pay me more. Because I'm an adult.

The overwhelming majority of Democrat voters just don't pay attention to politics, and those polls are misleading because they use baiting language like "do you support free healthcare"? Well yea, pretty much everyone would support that. When you're honest, and say that it comes out of taxes, that becomes a fundamentally different question. Progressives have to lie to convince people of their positions. Because you have bad positions.

@emoryogglethorp8180 yes, fast food by definition is low skilled labor. That's why high school kids do it. It doesn't require any level of education or training, it's one of the easiest jobs that exist. It sucks, it's hard work in ways, but it's not difficult in any way, it's just annoying and tedious. I've done it, for years. I was very good at it. Leftists are not. Leftists are lazy, they make excuses, they lie, they are not good employees. I know this with absolute certainty. And as far as health care, yes, I understand you're asking the wealthy elite to pay higher taxes, but it's laughably stupid to think that politicians would punish their donors so they can give you money. What you're asking for is not what you're going to get in reality.

You're essentially married to your job, you're on call 24/7, it's not back breaking manual labor, but you're putting in way more time to work than most people are willing to do. It wouldn't be that difficult to train a monkey to put fries in a basket, drop them in grease, set a timer, and pull them up when the timer goes off.
